yeah I think some video encoding codecs are gearing up towards gpu utilization too, should be neat. Also intel said they believe gpu's will be "obsolete" soon... :)

VERY interesting. Im just about due to upgrade cards. This would be worth the investment if the speeds are really that great. Especially interesting since Im redoing everything into h264 for our HD stuff now too.

I can't wait till they toss some SSD drives onto the video cards and develop a special version of linux that can run completely off the GPU. it would be badass for laptops and things like that to just run off something the size of the video card. From what everybody says those GPU's can do way more calculations/sec than CPU's can anyway.
