Anyone else watch trueblood on HBO yet? (spoilers - yes a lot)

So I guess the first episode aired after several other shorts (interviews, history, literature). Was not thinking it would be an hour long show for some reason but guess it is. Not to sure yet if we like it or not either. I know they had to cover a whole lot to even begin a story or if not cover at least introduce.

So far I just get:
New Orleans backdrop (not super original but eh may as well)
Super bitchy black side kick with crush on leads brother.
Vampires have came out into the open and want rights etc.
Japanese developed a synthetic blood that gives them all they need.
Leads brother is a horn dog who will fuck anything that moves and well will provide many sex scenes in future episodes.
Lead character is sort of a mind reading redneck waitress who is very proper and a virgin despite some killer titties. Though would make sense if you can read minds and are a female just how you could end up a virgin.
Leads boss is a bar owner who is in love with lead.
Gay black chef who seems very naughty, could be good or bad.
Humans have a black market for vampire blood, guess it makes them feel better and is like a drug.
Humans may be draining vampires of blood (killing them) so they can make money or get high on own supply.
Silver is sort of very bad for vampires (yeah new one for me too).
Main vampire so far is new to town and lead can not read his mind, also seems to have crush on him.
Mystery murder.
Kinky sex, ok seriously they are adding a lot of sex to this. Hell it about opens up with a handjob. Vampire turbo sex seems scary. With gay character already in play, surprise butt sex may be coming.

Well that is I think everything they wanted to explain. Sure I left out some small shit like I think grandma is a ho, and such but oh well. I can understand it also taking a few episodes to get rolling along with a story or plot, unless your cool with just lots of sex and an occasional ass kicking.

So what did you make of it?

Im with you...

Im not sure if I like it or not. It could be a good show but I guess we will have to wait to see where the next episode takes us

I have read all the books over the last couple of years. They are entertaining and the concept that vampires are real and have revealed themselves is interesting.

As the show goes on we should be seeing some other cool things from the book.

Such as: Yes, werewolves do exist. They are Shapeshifters. And there are various varieties of shapeshifters. For instance, Sam the owner of the bar is one. He was the dog that licked Sookie's face. Bill the vampire knows what he is but won't say anything because shapeshifters have not yet "come out".

Sookie is part "fairy". That's what is drawing the vampires to her. It gave her psychic powers that she doesn't understand. And in the books...fairies are like candy to vampires. So they sense that tiny bit of fairy in her and it makes them all want to fuck her.

There will also be a religious war coming. In the books a bunch of right wing religious nuts end up forming a "church" whose mission it is to kill all vampires.

You will also find out that the vamps have "kings" and "queens" for every state. For instance, Bill is really there on a mission from the Queen Of Louisiana.

There's a lot more to it as well. It's been fleshed out pretty well by the books over the last few years and gets more and more interesting as it goes on. So if the series ends up running a few years it will get to all the later characters/creatures.

I havent had a chance to watch it yet, but I am a big fan of the book series it is based on. We will see if it even comes close.

The books are pretty much interesting time wasting books. Funny shit, with plenty of violence and sex thrown in.

The series should be pretty good. HBO never seems to drop the ball going back to The Larry Sanders Show through The Sopranos, Deadwood, Rome, etc. They pretty much have the best writers, videographers, etc. in the television business.

Which makes sense. A creative person is censored all to hell on network t.v. So I'm guessing the most fertile creative minds write for HBO and SHOWTIME

I have enjoyed it so far. Watched the first to eps. It does have some potential, but then again I thought the same thing of John From Cincinnati.

jury is still out for me as well. i did get into it midway through, i think the hardcore fucking kept me tuned in haha. the acting is decent, that would have killed it right there if it wasn't. i dreamt i was a character in the story last night that got turned. very graphic and scary dream but the sex was great :thumbsup i will continue watching

Robbie 09-08-2008 08:31 AM

Don't expect a lot pr0 The fat bitch ain't Hemmingway. But it's great bathroom reading material. Start from the first book in the series as they run chronologically.

I dug it. I found a pre-release on the newsgroups that I watched last week. It was funny because there were several scenes missing and they had placeholders like "Cut to POV (point of view) of Bill looking into window" and "Scene 32".

I dug the pilot and it's a good base for what could be a great show. Hell, it is the "Six Feet Under" guy doing it...that's a good enough reference for me.

Burridge 09-08-2008 02:37 PM

i thought it was pretty cool...ill be tuning in for the second episode
