Model wants to "undo" the shoot...

Got an interesting call this evening. One of my thugs wants to give me the money back, that I paid him... to "undo" the shoot. He says "cause that just ain't my thang... I gots opportunities and shit... I'll just give you the $100 back, aight?"

I told him I'd have to get back to him on that.

Any suggestions on what should I tell the guy? :thumbsup

camgirlshide 09-24-2008 07:36 PM

Tell him what it would actually cost to "undo" it and see what he has to say

JamesK 09-24-2008 08:03 PM

He pays the money back, your hourly rate and any other costs involved.

tony286 09-24-2008 08:05 PM

first question where do u live?

Vital Sin Entertainment 09-24-2008 08:05 PM

Thats what I would do too, make him pay all the expenses.. lesson learned.

xenigo 09-24-2008 08:06 PM

I'll just tell him he's only going to be on the tour for a short while. I think that's mainly what he's concerned about.

Thanks for the replies. I hadn't thought of charging him a set rate. Will be a good thing to keep in mind in the future.

DaddyHalbucks 09-24-2008 08:08 PM

Tell him that you already sent the photos out, and you can't put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

Sent you an ICQ.

tony286 09-24-2008 08:10 PM

If you live in a uptight area its smart just to let him give you the 100 bucks back and leave it at that. The better you screen the less this happens.

Jim_Gunn 09-24-2008 08:35 PM

I read about this happening all the time here on GFY, but thankfully I never have had this happened to me in fifteen years of filming content. If it did happen, I would just tell the model the truth- that I already sent the material to a client and/or uploaded it for affiliates and the content was already all over the internet on dozens of web sites that were not under my control so there was nothing that I could do about it anymore.

I need to stop telling these particular models I own the site.

Only bad things come out of that.

When I'm shooting models for my clients, that's my typical line... "Sorry bro, it's been shipped already. I've been paid. No I'm not sending my check back, thanks."

Eriic 09-24-2008 08:45 PM

Fine, My $100.00 back my time $200 hourly. Any assistants = $100 per hour.

Time and set and location = $500.00 per day and pre order disclosures to potential clients = $500.00 and of course webmaster cost of $75.00 per hour.

I am willing to undo for $1,200.00

I agree. I know a photographer who had a model that shot with him several times. She retired and wanted him to take all of the pictures down. So he added up all of the costs, and then she paid him that to get all of the pictures down. He and the model were both happy.

jonesonyou 09-25-2008 03:30 AM

I also agree make him pay you the $100 back plus expenses

Exactly right.

This was discussed a month ago. Search for the thread.

We have had a handful ask for the same. They can 'buy back' their content sure enough. They pay for their model fee, plus all the other girls, plus my time, and expense. Typically this is anywhere from $500-1000.00.

Not one has ever paid it.

:)

SilentKnight 09-25-2008 06:18 AM

I'd add in the loss of potential future revenues, too (if you've been around awhile you can fairly accurately guesstimate what the earnings would approximate).

Refunding the 'regretful ones' sends the message that this is a game/hobby we do in our spare time - not a business.

kmanrox 09-25-2008 06:20 AM

how the fuck can you undo a porn shoot? once its online, its permanent.... cache, archive.org, p2p, tubes, ppl emailing each other from their hdds now or some day, usenet... yer boy is fuct.. best he can hope for is to pay you some good coin to stop doing your part about putting it out there any more

As Tony404 pointed out.

Sometimes, not always, being more flexible IS a good business decision.

There are no hard fast rules for dealing with this situation. Not everyone is in southern California. So they have to consider their community standards, and repercussions on something like a scorned model making grief.

:2 cents:

vidvicious 09-25-2008 08:13 AM

i've had a female model come back with her biker BF, 5 months fter the fact. We contacted the client and had they're accountant crunch some numbers to figure out what kind of income her sets generated since they ve been updated to the site.

that seemed to shut them up pretty fast.

seeandsee 09-25-2008 08:15 AM

Yes indeed.

The handful of times for us though, it was right after the shoot. Before released. So was different circumstances in that respect.

TRe$yNFuL 09-25-2008 09:24 AM

I agree that he should have to pay any and all fees associated with the shoot.
No fucking way should he be able to 'undo' a production by simply returning $100.

Fuck that.

if its before release .. like the day after the shoot .. and only if she was shot alone .. I'd cahrge her back all production costs .. Including tests, assistants and a percentage of the loaction (if it was your own studio) the whole amount if it was a rental .. basicly I'd charge her back the clients full cost of the shoot. Plus time lost .. so your day rate on top of that .. ie: if the shoot cost for the client was say $1200 .. I'd add my day rate (at the lowest $400) ...

I agree some people here forget we are in a very gray business unless you are in porn valley. Its not worth the pain one pissed off model can cause and chances are its our fault for not screening hard before the shoot happened. This has never happened to jim gunn or my buddy mike south. I figure they both must screen hard before getting to the point of shooting. Its not just luck.

mister_nobodie 10-20-2008 02:47 PM

ask him why
-then tell him why he's wrong.

pretend to say ok
- cuz you're a good guy and good guys always say ok.

then change his mind.
- cuz he can trust a good guy.

baddog 10-20-2008 02:54 PM

$100 to be content? Prices must be droppping.
