Does Cote Have Even a 2% Chance of Beating Silva?

I just can't see it happening.

Supz 10-21-2008 08:38 PM

me either. im excited to watch it thought. should be a good matchup. I love watching sylvia fight. you never know how he is gonna win, knockout, submission. he is a beat.

notoldschool 10-21-2008 08:41 PM

Not close with skills but ANYONE can get caught on the chin and go down. It could happen.

JustDaveXxx 10-21-2008 09:17 PM

Punchers chance. Cote is tough for a Canadian. But Silva is a bad man!!!

Drake 10-21-2008 09:25 PM

In MMA there is always a chance to land a lucky punch to end the fight, but I don't think luck is going to be a factor in this fight.

amateurcanada 10-21-2008 09:35 PM

lol

He dead.........

Horny Alf 10-22-2008 01:41 AM

Petruzelli had an even lower chance to knock out kimbo and look how that turned out. In MMA anything is possible. We'll see

Peter Romero 10-22-2008 02:05 AM

That's about right... about 2% chance. But that's if someone from the audience throws hot salty buttered popcorn into Anderson Silva's eyes and Cote gets in a cheap shot.

Anderson Silva is just fuckin dangerous and fast as hell.

I'm actually looking forward to the Brock Lessner fight. Should be interesting and at least it will go further that 1 round like the Silva Cote fight will.

Thomas N 10-22-2008 06:57 AM

Anderson *should* wreck Cote easily. However, it is MMA, so I'd definitely say Cote has at least a 2% chance of winning.

Remember these recent massive upsets:
GSP vs Serra 1
Gonzaga vs CroCop
Forrest Griffin vs Shogun Rua

Hell, even Rashad KOing Chuck.

Doctor Dre 10-22-2008 08:21 AM

Coté has at least 25 % chances of winning this if it keeps standing up... very hard hitter with iron chin, nowdays way more technical then Leben once was.

DWB 10-22-2008 09:38 AM

I thought you were talking about drugs. Nevermind.

Petruzelli is actually a pretty good puncher. He's knocked out some reasonably big names in Pride. Kimbo's chin had never been tested. He tested it...and it failed. But to say that he had a less than 2% chance of knocking him out is inaccurate, to say the least.

Shogun had a fucked up ACL and took the fight anyway. I personally think that fight would have gone very different had he been 100%. Dont get me wrong, I love Forrest and think he's a great fighter. I just dont know that he could have beaten Shogun at 100% at that point in his career.

That being said...its MMA. Anything can, and does happen. Realistically though...Cote is toast.

Megan Essog 10-22-2008 09:52 AM

Silva is hands down (i suppose in my opinion) the best fighter in the world and I SO badly want to cheer for my fellow Canadian.... SO bad but can't cause I know his block is going to get knocked.... probably by a kick to the head!

PrivateEye 10-22-2008 09:56 AM

What are the betting odds on the fight ?

Puremeds-J 10-22-2008 10:01 AM

I like cote, but i dont see anyone beating silva for a long time. I do believe he wont be out classed when he does loose. It will be a wide right from a shorter overly muscular fighter that catches him off guard.

You must be smoking that good stuff. Seth pertruzelli is a well trained mma fighter and kimbo is a backyard street fighter. Silva is said to be the best mma fighter pound for pound in the world.

Anything is possible, with the exception of Silva.

I watched him simply demolish Dan Henderson the other night, and believe me Dan is a much better fighter then Cote.

It was crazy to see how Dan could barely put up a fight against this monster Silva.

I want to see Rampage against Silva again, without the broken ribs.

As long as Silva is willing to stand with a big hitter (not cote) he will run the risk of getting caught on the chin.

He is just too relaxed and comfortable in the ring, freak of nature.. truly.

Im firmly convinced that both Silva and Fedor are either a) robots or b) from another planet.

Umm, yes they did.

It's called PRIDE fighting, and some of the best matchups ever were on PRIDE.

I believe youre thinking of Wanderlei Silva...we're talking about Anderson Silva.

No I'm not.

Anderson Silva and Rampage fought in PRIDE FIGHTING, Anderson broke Rampage's ribs.

The problem with the UFC is that a lot of people are just now "tuning in".

Again, some of the best match ups ever were on PRIDE FIGHTING, and one of them happen to be Rampage Jackson vs. Anderson Silva.

Trust me, I know my shit :2 cents:

Stellar 10-22-2008 11:50 AM

Jesus,

I think I am wrong.

Maybe my memory indexed it because it was knees that won W. Silva the match.. but fuck I could have sworn it was Anderson throwing them.

I have the first 25 or so PRIDE events on DVD. Im definitely not just now tuning in.

I just looked at their respective Wikipedia pages and couldnt find a record of either of them fighting.

Yeah that's what I just looked at,

like I said.. I think it was the knees that threw me off.

Well...with Anderson Silva stepping up to 205, maybe we'll get to see that matchup one day.

Im still anxious to see how he does against a top level 205er. I kinda feel like itll be too much weight for him, but then again...he is Anderson Silva. Anything is possible.
