FCC: Are You Paying Too Much For Cable?
And the saga begins.
Recently we contacted cox cable regarding the prices we were paying for basic cable. We asked them why we were still paying the same amount while they were removing channels that were in our basic package which I feel is a breech of contract. They had no answer except that we could upgrade and get a package that would include all the channels we were suppose to have and more. That did not sit well with me, so I filed a complaint with the FCC and it looks like we were not the only individuals filing complaints. I have to say I am thrilled to see that cox cable is just one of many crooked cable companies that is under investigation. I hope they get it stuck to them and have to rebate some money to us and others they are ripping off. We have been looking into other options and it won't be long before we tell them to hit the road. :thumbsup Story below (AP) The Federal Communications Commission has opened an investigation into the pricing policies of major cable operators and Verizon Communications Inc. The agency wants to ensure the companies' customers are getting treated fairly, FCC Chairman Kevin Martin in an interview with The Associated Press. "I'm certainly concerned with the increasing cable prices that consumers are facing," Martin said. "They are getting less and being charged the same or more." The FCC wrote on Oct. 30 to cable operators including Comcast Corp., Time Warner Cable Inc., Cox Communications Inc., Charter Communications Inc., Cablevision Systems Corp., Bright House Networks, Suddenlink Communications, Bend Cable Communications, GCI Company, Harron Entertainment and RCN Corp. Comcast just dropped a bunch of channels here AND raised prices. I dont even get MSnbc anymore. :321GFY

This seems quite silly. You'd think that with the impending dominance of online television these cable companies would do as little as possible to alienate current and potential customers. But then again, these are the same companies that are beginning to impose broadband usage limits. Go figure. :disgust

Im glad to see Cable Vision in that list...
They charge a arm and a leg here in nyc! |
Yeah, it's bullshit, it seems like every few months they're raising the price. It's funny though because Charter Communications boasted that they lowered the price of the HD tier from $7 to $5, but then they raised the overall price of my package by $9, ha ha. I thought that was funny.
Then they're always calling me or hitting me up when I pay my bill about getting their telephone service, fuck that, they're already raping me enough, and it's not any cheaper after the 6 month initial price. |
