Gmail and spying on someone

Many difference ways the web history feature in gmail can be abused but here is one:

Say im at your computer and im like hey can I check my email quick, and I log into my gmail and dont log out, now evey search you do in google and other things you do such as sites etc. ill be able to see when im home and go thru my web history in gmail.

Now im using an example think of the many other ways this can screw you (or you can screw with others) remember you can pause web history etc

Downfall is the person you are spying on can read all your emails?

the idea would be that you set up that account with the purpose of spying on that person, I though that part was obvious

you just use a gmail account specifically for the task

a most people do b. takes 2 secs to install

look this is not something the CIA would use this was posted because it can save some people headaches and in some cases maybe help some people with other stuff

What i meant was that a keylogger would be better so you can capture the other persons e-mail log ins and passwords etc.... With the gmail trick you can only spy on their browsing history and see what sites they visited, but a keylogger is best if you want to figure out their online passwords, like to their email accounts or myspace account or cell phone account etc...

very true, to get peoples passwords I have a trick that works 80% of the time its kinda hilarious actually then again nothing beats keyloggers but its not that simple to get into machines and more and more apps flag that rather quick.

you can learn a world about someone based on what they type into google search

this is the first rule of security. ;)

no one aside from me sits at my desk in my office.

i have a "fake" computer station in the living room area of my home that others can be shown thigns on the web, but there is no connection to my work. the laptop is there to show friends things online, youtube vids, etc...

my office is under lock and key, and no one should ever sit at an adult webmasters computer.

period.

And yet you have helped me in the past telling me stuff about people only you knew (and perhaps the CIA/FBI :-p))

Now, tell us about that password getting without keyloggers ;-)

yeah but if they have a google account they'll log in and overwrite that, no?

I guess assume the person doesn't have one...?

Great point! They either

a) dont have one

b) dont use it often

c) most people are creatures of habit, think about this, how much would someone learn about you if they can see the sites and google searches you did in the past hour alone.

LOL like I said this is not something the KGB would use its just a toy and a tool to keep in mind as well as something to remember to protect yourself from.
