How to easily install OS X on PC Hardware...

It's now pretty simple, all you need is a Gigabyte Mainboard with internal USB and this nice little USB tool that costs over here 169 Euro:

http://www.efi-x.com/index.php?language=english

EFi- X? USB V1

Revolutionise your digital lifestyle easily and securely.
BPU on USB internal 10-1 pins. (with extended size)
Online updates of EFI-X? firmware.
Interactive system boot selector.
Install your favourite OS from original retail DVD.
Update your system with official unmodified updates.
ESD and EMI protection.

No need to modify any files, just put in OS X DVD and go for it :thumbsup

Why would you install that proprietary piece of crap that hardly has any software for it and not go for something that has a hell of a wider range of apps available AND has huge communities behind it? You know, like Fedora, Debian or Ubuntu?

bronco67 11-12-2008 08:17 AM

What's so great about OsX?

You have to pay for it, along with for any other piece of software you want to use on it! :thumbsup

Lol, BS..
There is a crap load of software for OSX, more than i would ever use..
Been MS user for many many years, i prefer OSX for ease of use and stability and I've not even talked about the superior build quality of Apple products..

btw, i have Ubuntu running on OSX as well.. runs smooth as hell.. or any other distro..

i read a german article that said it's more legal than the hacks that are usually necessary if you want to install it without this dongle. the OS X TOS has something in it that says it's only allowed to install it on Apple hardware, but there are lawyers that doubt that this restriction is legal. so far Apple hasn't done anything against it

Well Apple have started law suits against Psystar:- http://store.psystar.com/

Its a shame really. I suppose it keeps Microsoft from bricking it. Imagine how much market loss they would have if they removed the "Apple hardware only" limit.

Sam Granger 11-12-2008 09:34 AM

And drivers? They can be hell :winkwink:

I really don't think microsoft has anything at all to worry about. Windows 7 will end all discussion. SURE MS whiffed big time with Vista but Server 2008 is badass as a desktop and I believe windows 7 will only further the good work they did with server 2008.

I forced myself into 30 days of mac on my main system (through hacks) I bet MS fears ubuntu more than it fears MAC. A solid FREE OS with tons of free software... thats a LOT harder to fight than the marketing machine mac has. MOST of apple is nothing but smoke and mirrors.

I am laughing out loud.

Why do OSs create fanboys like this?

Why do you think ANYONE cares if you drive XP, OSX, or a *nix?

What do you think happens? Someone thinks about doing biz with you, then realises you use OSX, so goes to someone else?

Why do you post saying one is better than the other? Why do you care so much?

If you have nothing better to do, hit me up, you can write some blog posts for me.

It took me a weekend to get things up and running properly. But I've managed to do a full retail install and can get auto updates from Apple. It cost me under $700 and runs Photoshop and the few programs I've tested faster than the Mac Pro I paid 4 times as much for.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 11-12-2008 12:45 PM

Microsoft will own you.
Once again I see morons reaching for alternate Platforms in desparation to be "Cool" or "Rebels" against something they got no idea about. Let me guess they are the same guys that think Fire Fox and CHrome are the next big thing right?

Microsoft fucking rules and will always rule the PC Software Market. Get used to a fact of life idiots.
