Grand Theft Auto players -- one thing I must say about these games
They sure make you hate cops. :D
I've owned Vice City for 3 maybe 4 years now but didn't really play it until recently. Playing it now though. A few thoughts on it... -- wondering why Tommy boy can't swim. I mean, water to him is like battery acid or something. I don't think it would have killed the devs to enable him to swim. -- Learning to fly that pontoon plane. Trying to fly it close enough to the buildings to go through the targets is an experience in pain and frustration. -- Did I mention how annoying cops are? All I can say is god bless the rocket launcher. Anyone else playing vice city lately? Probably not since there are way newer and cooler episodes of this game out. It's still fun though. Interesting missions. Today I'm selling drugs from an ice cream truck. :D |
That was one of the best series of games ever, but I kind of lost interest after San Andreas (and happy I did cause it took up almost all my free [and not so free] time playing III and Vice City).
|
Its a great game
|
After I finished Vice City I still played it for years, just driving around, riding bikes, boats, doing jumps etc listening to the radio and killing as many people as possible lol.. that thing is damn addictive. I never tried any of the following series..

on every GTA i have my "main save" where i do all the missions and then i have my "stress reliever save" where i put in a weapons cheat like 100 times and go apeshit on the city, sniping people or just wanton killing, then try to keep the cops off of me. great after a rough day and good for laughs :pimp |

During the college years, when I wasn't under the effect of acid/mushi/booze I played 80% Vice City and 20% Counter Strike 1.5 You can never have enough of this. As a scarface-fan its even cooler :pimp Swimming: yes, annoying... Plane: its fun! :) Do you play it on PC or ps2/xbox? I played it on PC and it was no problem. Bit practice and its done. Cops: 100% fun time! If you know the city you know where the "stars" and paint shops are, so even the most heavy cop attack is fun time. Its a pity that I dont have any time to play with it anymore - not mentioning the newer episodes.. But I've heard in GTA4 you have to burn cannabis with a flame thrower and it is something I am not willing to do for sure... Radio stations are fine as well. This is a game you can't get bored by. I think burning weed with a flame thrower is done in San Andreas, that hippy character in that game is possibly the best one in the gta series yet :)

GTA is a great game, the cops makes it exciting. I hate that Tommy can't swim!

But who among us hasn't been on one of those VERY difficult missions, almost complete it, feeling that rush that you're finally almost through it, and then BAM... some fuckhead cop you didn't see coming pulls you out of your vehicle, or 20 cop cars chasing you manage to trap you in a narrow street and pile on you until you and your vehicle get incinerated... and poof -- there goes your mission, the one you'd been at for hours. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it's just frustrating. Tell me you haven't wanted to load a previous save and just go revenge-kill some of those cops for the sheer sport of it. :1orglaugh |

Nah. I still play it. Not as much in the summer months, but I have it installed, and when I wanna just veg out (since I do not drink anymore). I type in some cheats, hit GTA (any of them) and enjoy waking up the neighbors and scaring local dogs. MWAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA |
Vice City was by far the best GTA game in my opinion. I like the graphics on the new one, but the cops aren't as fun to play around with.
|
Graphically the newest one is by far the best but the music sucks! It has like 30 radio stations but they don't have a lot of songs on them. Nothing like Vice city. The music rocked! the 80's ruled! I own all of the GTA games from 3 and up. I should go back for old times sake.

that's what made me hate cops. |

Honestly some of you completely utterly lack the ability to read between the lines. :1orglaugh |

I used to love riding around Vice City on a motor bike collecting the money made from the businesses I bought while shooting pedestrians at random. Happy days :) (must look out my ol' PS2)
The latest GTA is a great game but it doesn't have businesses to buy and the clothes shops have no real variety also you can only really spend your cash on guns and ammo, there's no way to pimp your rides or get haircuts like in San Andreas either. Just WTF were Rockstar thinking when they left that stuff out? :( :2 cents: |
I seem to remember enjoying the jumps alot more in Vice City.

I might like you better if we slept together I might like you better if we slept together I might like you better if we slept together But there's something in your eyes that says "maybe" That's never! Never say never! Slumped by the courthouse with windburnt skin That man could give a fuck about the grin On your face as you walk by Randy as a goat He's sleepin' on papers but He'd be warm in your coat I might like you better if we slept together I might like you better if we slept together I might like you better if we slept together But there's something in your eyes that says "maybe" That's never! Never say never Great song, I'm now addicted. Love doing car chases to that one. :D |
I stopped playing it about 1/3 of the way into the game. It was lame. The main character was boring and I got tired on running halfway across town just to talk to some asshole....and it looked like utter shit as a bonus.
Play Mercenaries2 instead. It's Grand Theft Auto with airstrikes. Calling in a daisy cutter bomb drop on a village full of brown people is the definition of fun. |
I'm actually playing Mercenaries 2 as we speak. Good game but buggy though. Since I just downloaded trophies patch for GTA4 I'll go play it again when I have time.

Yes I too got bored with GTA-VC when I first got it and tried playing it. I guess I had too many other games calling me away and, well, my driving sucked and it took forever to get anywhere. So I shelved it for a few years. But lately since I've gotten bored with all the other games I've played to death (Halo, Max Payne, Oblivion, etc) I decided to give it another shot, and I'm glad I did. It's actually quite interesting, and I've found that once you get the hang of driving fast through traffic you can get anywhere in the city pretty fast. Grab the helicopter and it's even faster. But no matter how you slice it vice city isn't for anyone who is in a rush. Lots of missions and lots to do even when not doing missions. Why just today while playing I accidently ran over a cop, another one saw me do it and the chase was on. I eventually ended up having probably 20 cop cars after me, a 5 star wanted rating, and at one fast corner it seem about 10 of them piled into my getaway car. I jumped out, unloaded my rocket launcher on them and vaporized the lot of them. Then I stole someone else's car, got to a pay 'n spray, sat back in my chair and gave all those cops who were chasing me the doubled finger salute. What a rush. |
Vice city was the best of the series. I love the current GTA4 but Vice City was just more fun somehow. San Adreas was terrible.
|
Great games.
|
Awesome game.
I played all of them form the very first one to the San Andreas. I'm waiting for the latest one to be released on PC. It's big fun especialy when you change all the stock cars to the ones you like. My fav is FBI Hummer H2 |
Vice City was the best of the bunch imo. Great sound track, I have it on my itunes :thumbsup
|
GTA 1 was best, no joke. GTA 2 was Ok. The First-Person view fucked up the other GTA-games.

Since reading this thread I have started to play GTA 4 again. I just got the trophy patch so now there is a little more meaning to play again. And I forgot how fun and realistic this game was. |

I played Vice A LOT!
|
Anyone play the new PS3 version yet? I think it's called Grand Theft Auto IV, but it's really like XI or XII if you include the PS1 versions and Vice and San Andreas
|
I meant V or VI, not X or XI. Don't want to freak out any hardcore GTA fans. LOL
|
I play the ps3 version smutnut. Awesome graphics :)

I haven't even seen the PS3 yet. I won't buy one cause I'm too scared of getting addicted LOL. I was really bad with the PS2 when these games first came out. Graphics are that good, huh? |
I can't beat this dipshit Hillary in a street race. Arggg
I hate that guy. I may have to try doing a drive-beside-shooting on him... |
The only game on the ps3 with better graphics in my opinion is metal gear solid 4. The city has some really nice detail to it from litter lying around to the signs in the back of the taxi cab that you can actually read. The physics are great too, the pedestrians act realistically especially when you run them over or steal their cars. Sometimes they will hang onto the door handle as you drive away and you can hear them beg you to stop ;)
Cars look good, they even get dirty and damage can effect how they perform. Take a helicopter ride at dawn and watch the sunlight stream over the city then you can land it ontop of some poor idiot in a car and start a massacre that will attract the attention of the toughest cops in a GTA game so far :) I just wish you could do more with the money you earn :Oh crap |
Vice City is one of my all time favorite games... And oh what a soundtrack :thumbsup
BTW, in Vice City Stories they added swimming ability. |
