Bill Parcells should be President of the United States

i'm almost not joking - this guy's mere presence seems to whip people into shape, admittedly they're just football players but every where this guy goes things fall in line - and fast. last season the Miami Dolphins were one loss away from a perfect 0-16 season - months later they are 6-4 under Parcells' control.

I have not idea how he has turned this team around, they looked so bad at the begining of the year. One loss after another.

He has an exact formula that he sticks to and does not deviate from. It started this off season in the weight room when he implemented a certain way for players to work out, and he was known to hang out in the weight room every day to see who worked hard and who didn't. Guys like Jason Taylor that didn't show up for the off season program are no longer there.

He also has a formula for player's size, which is why Zach Thomas was cut. I am a lifelong Dolphins fan and it broke my heart to see him go, but he was always an undersized linebacker, and that doesn't fit the Parcells mold. Most of our linebackers now are converted defensive ends, like Matt Roth, and he drafted guys like Phillip Merling and Kendall Langford to add beef to the defensive line, and Jake Long and Donald Thomas (who is hurt but has a hell of a future at guard) for the offensive line. This team is HUGE now when you compare them to last year.

Of course we have to thank the Jets most of all, because if they didn't trade for Brett Favre then Chad Pennington wouldn't have fallen in our lap :thumbsup

Well last year's team wasn't as bad as the record for one thing. They just had really really poor coaching. They lost 7 games by 3 points or less, so it wasn't like they were getting humiliated....just poor play calling and no motivational skills from the coach.

2nd thing, Parcells rebuilt the lines in one offseason. It's the most important part of the football team (sans the quarterback) and most overlooked by fans.

Jake Long, Left Tackle, 1st pick in the draft. 2nd and 3rd round picks were D-lineman....traded for a nose tackle from Dallas and signed an offensive guard from SF.....BAM....respectable lines on both sides of the ball.

We would have been a 4 or 5 win team this year but then Chad Pennington fell into our laps when the Jets got Favre. That was the one thing nobody expected.
He's the best QB we've had since Marino retired (and I think we've had 7+ since then)

Don't ask me to name them, I couldn't tell you.

they also have a normal quarterback, and 2 competent running backs, a 2nd year wide receiver, a bunch of new not over the hill defenders and a new coach.

I'll try from memory, I won't look them up.

Jay Fiedler
Jay Feeley
Ray Lucas
Brian Griese
Gus Frerotte
Daunte Culpepper
Cleo Lemon
Trent Green
John Beck

And those are just guys who started a game.

Wannstache and Saban were both idiots who passed on Drew Brees twice.
Wannstache in the draft, who took Jamar Fletcher instead....and Saban in free agency could have had Brees, instead he traded a 2nd rounder for Culpepper.

Of course, if either guy had taken Brees, they might still be working for the Dolphins...and we're better off long term with Parcells' proteges running the show.

Parcells is a great organizer. He assembled a good coaching staff, drafted right, and has the team heading in the right direction. I have been a fins fan all of my life and am very happy to see them doing so much better after the worst season ever.

GO FISH!
