Do you have high blood pressure ? (& do you take meds for it?)
I was reading on this stuff recently, looks like 25-30% of American adults have too high blood pressure.
Since this condition is related to lifestyle, diet, body mass etc, I'd guess it should be even more common among webmasters :winkwink: I wonder how many preople here are taking blood pressure meds? The doc says I might be in need for them but I told her I'd rather do some lifestyle changes first than to be put on meds for the rest of my life... :Oh crap |
i kno people with it and they take a few pills
|
eat better and cut down on the salt.
|
yes, one pill a day
|
Hell no..... they keep trying to make me take a bunch of shit for my heart because I have Diabetes, but the way I see it, if I can do it with my diet and vitamins and do NOT have an issue right now, why medicate something I don't have just to line their pockets?
Doctors are a bunch of crackpots these days. :Oh crap |
yup, I do, its supposed to be weight related, as is my diabetes. Just dont have enough self control to drop 40-50 lbs:helpme

I plan on dropping 50 lbs in the next 6 months

I wonder in particular if anyone has been under blood presure meds and then was able to stop taking them.
I read and hear from doctors that the meds "are rather for the rest of your life" and that sucks. I don't understand it fully though. If there's a chance to drop blood pressure by exercising/changing diet and losing weight, then why can't I take blood pressure meds fort say 6 months and in the meantime I'm doing all the lifestyle changes and then can be put off meds? Does my body somehow adjust to the meds? Anyway, this is rather not the qestions for GFY'ers... I only know one practicing doctor who posts here (ocassionally) :glugglug |
No, because I am a fucking machine.
On a totally unrelated note, has anyone seen Lawrence Connor around? I'm hoping he can point me to John. |
I eat unhealthy, drink coke as my main source of liquids, smoke heavily etc.. and my blood pressure is perfect.
|
My pressure was in the normal range but I have a genetic disorder making me prone to arterial ruptures so I'm on blood pressure meds to keep it low. Oddly the dosage I'm on is so low I doubt it is really doing anything but I'm not arguing.
|
I take pills for high blood pressure but they give them to me for my kidneys not for blood pressure actually.
|
No I don't

Damn straight most doctors are crackpots. They try and give you a fucking pill for everything. I have anxiety/panic attacks and they gave me Xanax two years ago. Now they are bitching about me still being on Xanax even though they tell me to take it. I am just going to ween myself off of it and try the diet and vitamins right. |
My worst was 160/105, but I'm usually around 140/85. Not good - not horrible.
I do eat a ton of salty foods though. I can't help it, I'm Greek!! :upsidedow |
No I don't I'm a health conscious person.
|
i have no idea, but dont expect so. i think im pretty healthy.
|
My blood pressure is great : ) I have a one year old daughter who has extremely high blood pressure. She takes two different blood pressure medication and I have to check her blood pressure every 4 hours. I also have a back up emergency medication if it gets too high where she can have a stroke. Not fun : (

I had high blood pressure for 10 years - I lost 170 Lbs and I'm all good now.

Stuff that may help you: calcium, magnesium, potassium, fish oil, coconut oil, fruits, vegetables, grape seed extract, folic acid, exercise, yoga, daily walk, massage, etc..
Stuff you need to reduce or eliminate: smoking, salt, sodium in all forms, caffeine, sugar, fried food, red meat, being overweight, stress. |
The higher the stats, the lower the pressure... I found out those 2 are related to each other in my situation.

this site has it ALL about natural methods of treating blood pressure http://www.evitamins.com/healthnotes...tentID=1033009 |
Typical misunderstandings of blood pressure. High Blood Pressure, just like high Cholesterol never killed a single person... They are symptoms of a rotting arterial system. You die from the pimples in your arteries bursting and blocking off your brain/heart, etc. Since your arteries have no nerves you can't feel how damaged they are from your diet. Even marathon runners die of heart disease. Your level of exercise isn't the solutions.
Please see www.drmcdougall.com/free.html if you're interested in getting off your pills in 10 days on the McDougall Diet PS. When you lift weights, what do you think your BP is under all that stress? Our arteries were designed for high pressure, just not for carnivorous diets |
nope. i seem to always be around 115-120 over 70-80
