I suppose it could be used as a muscle relaxer, but I can think of better drugs to use for that. Xanax is a tranquilizer mainly used to help with anxiety/panic. That is what it is used for 99 percent of the time.

Benzos are good until you have to start cutting down on them. They can be hard to quit.

Very true, apparently they can even potentially cause seizures from cold-turkey withdrawal. You have to taper it off.
