Social Networking is probably one of the biggest and fastest growing businesses in todays internet era....

Isnt GFY a " Social Networking " site????

Too bad, this site has so much potential but yet someone from Playboy is not seeing it....

GFY could be like the Facebook of the adult industry and have all sort of products and services.....i noticed recently everyone has a personal page now with albums and private pages, etc....but i dont think anyone knows or uses it....

Here are some examples of success....whats GFY worth? Who owns it or runs it or who is the CEO? Whats gonna happen to GFY?

And about WebmasterLabor, I've been using them for years and they do a great job. Gene (the owner) has been around here on GFY for ages. Do a quick search for yourself and you'll see that everyone has nothing but positive things to say about him :thumbsup

I remember lens saying something about exciting changes. This was a year or two ago. Maybe he was referring to the buyout...

I'd still keep the forum the focus of the site but would expand outward. You could have a virtual mall for buying all your webmaster goodies (scripts, design services, etc). A social community like facebook but for gfyers. Reviews of all the different sponsors. A gfy magazine that reports on the industry (I can imagine us all talking about the latest interview in Gfy Mag).

Take into account all of Playboy's assets (i.e. ICS Entertainment, Inc. a.k.a realitycash.com, sex.com, Spice TV, playboy magazine and merchandising, etc) and divide appropriately to assign a value to GFY.

you're vastly overrating the demand for an adult webmaster social networking site - GFY's success is as a forum.

there are various forms of everything mentioned in this thread out there already and none of them are that successful.

Playboy would be smart to sell now if there was a buyer willing to pay a couple of million for GFY. my prediction is that GFY will be sold within 2 years. GFY's traffic/viewership is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down since Lensman sold it.

Why is facebook worth what its worth? because microsoft invested 240 million in exchange for 1.6% stake, the same reason pla is worth what its worth because someone purchased a share(s) at 1.75 so you times that the number of outstanding shares (its obvious you know this just trying to make a point).

So in other words if say the parent company who owns GFY spins it off and gets a person to buy 10% of it for 10million you got yourself a 100 million dollar company.

Thats facebooks problem right now, they cannot sell sahres based on the MS valuation thats why he asked his employees to hold off, because should they have sold some of their shares at a lower price it would of screwed up the entire companies valuation that MS gave them with their 240mil investment.

It is likely that GFY is worth more sold of seperately then combined in Playboy. GFY is a cash flow positive entitiy so it should be easy to predict its worth to some extent.

While there's some worthy business analogies to mainstream, adult generally has it's own internal rules that renders mainstream valuation problematic.

It depends. When you strip out all the bots and fake nicks, you're not left with as big of a user base as you would think. I'd say a decent amount, but not even a blip to what Facebook/Myspace/etc is worth.

GFY has lots of traffic, but it's mostly the same people. Lot less new people coming in compared to several years ago when the on-line adult business was all the rage; GFY is stagnating.

What makes it far worse is GFY lacks depth - it's basically nothing more than a message forum.

GFY should move the forums to a sub-domain, such as forums.gfy.com, and put up a homepage on gfy.com along with about a dozen or so content pages to start - that would revigorate GFY, and give it a solid future.

The rank now is 52k - he is checking gofuckyourself and not GFY. And yes, its been a lot lower.

there's a good chance that GFY earns that in less than 6 months.,...

A couple years ago when you could count the number of advertisers in the drop-down menu it used to have, GFY was grossing a million and change per year.

Yep. And also, look how long this board can stay alive without ANY kind of promotion. GFY hasn't done any in-house contests, or anything at all to make people post more and attract new people, and the board is still going pretty strong.
