iTunes + QuickTime updates - 78.8Mb???

Too oftern I get this message of Apple Software Update telling me that I have a new update available. These updates are always HUGE, 70Mb more or less.
These are 2 simple software, nothing special, how the fuck is possible that every single update is so big? I think even the windows updates are smaller...
Do you get the same size for these updates?

Yeah, but there's this magical technology called patching or binary diffing. I remember doing that back in the MS-DOS days.

(While I'm here, I want to whinge about Adobe Reader. Installing their update loses all of your settings, then when the install is complete and you do something simple like turn off javascript in the preferences it loads up InstallShield and wants to REBOOT!!!! Just to change a preference!)

they must've packed it full of spamware or something :(

Since when has Apple done anything that makes sense? Of course I had to buy my wife the latest gen of Ipod nano because it comes in pink...

I NEVER update my Adobe softwares anymore because of problems like that.

I usually ignore their update beg dialogs, but there was a security issue in this case...

I don't have QuickTime on my machines or RealPlayer the bigger pile of junk out of the two. I removed winamp too... honestly, with these 3 packages off my boxes has made it more stable, quicker, and no gay ram/video lag.

I didnīt try to make this a discussion between APPLE and another companies, I donīt care a shit. What I am saying is that I am surprised because of the size of each updates. If you get the installer of each program is almost the same size, so, are those patch to fix problems or new modules of the program or those are the whole program?
Such sizes of update I think are a little inefficient, at least for the standard software companies.

Mac universal binaries are twice as big as PC binaries, they include the code for both PPC and Intel architectures... so yeah, Mac updates are very heavy :/

Nobody wants Quicktime, but they force us to install it :(
