So I just paid $1k to get my website hacked
 

.... and kicked my IT guy in the nuts.

Couple of old friends were fooling around with "hack me and I'll pay you $100", so I was like "hack me and I'll pay you $1k".

I'm down $1k right now and UP on 5 fixed security holes that might have costed me a whole lot more.

How much would you pay to get a possible security hole fixed? In my servers case I could've lost all backups, all db's, everything.

I'd have to trust the hacker quite a lot to suggest him to try to hack me heh. Other than that I'd pay $1k for someone to hack my main server if I knew him well.

My girlfriend teaches a Certified Ethical Hacker class at Cornell University. Lots of people getting paid to do this legitimately.

You can know only so much from a resume.... and much more from when a guy hacks into your system in a matter of hours.

That's always an easy thing to say. However, if you want to know if you have a really good one you almost need to be as good as him/her.

How else could you know if he/she's any good?

That's the bloody thing. They are in different server location spots. Both could've been destroyed easily.

Your server was most likelly hacked before, and still is, but you don't even know about it. However, 1k for 5 holes is a bargain.
