Developers ..OMG, how did they do that?

That is some super freak'n cool draggable-windows based navigation they have going on there at beautifulpeople.com. How did they do it? What technologies were used? Anyone have any ideas or thoughts on it?

VERY COOL STUFF! :thumbsup

From their site..

"The site introduces revolutionary web technologies featuring a draggable-windows based navigation. The intuitive, application-like interface allows you to interact with an unlimited number of features and sections of the site simultanously."

It's innovative, but to be honest I find it a little annoying to use.

Fat Panda 12-11-2008 04:38 PM

CyberHustler 12-11-2008 04:39 PM

I agree, and that goes without saying. ..I'm just trying to understand the root technology, or technologies they've employed there.

NOT ajax. Regular javascript. Ajax is javascript that communicates with a server language to output info that you normally would have to do a page view to get, without that page view.

The only difference is that only good looking people with shitty browsers can join :disgust

pornask 12-11-2008 05:16 PM

Obviously they know what they're doing. Only faggy fanboys with no clue use FF. Leaving the site to the elite - the beautiful people...

It does not do anything special on my browser either. Just looks like a flash page to me. You need all kinds of junk installed for it to work I guess. We're better off I think.

d-null 12-11-2008 05:35 PM

took too long to load :2 cents:

czarina 12-11-2008 05:39 PM

i dont see what windows you're talking about.

borked 12-12-2008 12:41 AM

Jesus, not only is it browser-dependent, but platform-dependent too. Talk about totally cutting off 20% of your potential customer base.

One big developer FAIL.

"BeautifulPeople.net is only supported by Internet Explorer."

doridori 12-12-2008 02:17 AM

check out dojo

its ajax, but u can do the same stuff in flash.

donborno 12-12-2008 02:38 AM

I don't see what you mean, parts of it are done using Flash.

For drag&drop there are several JavaScript libraries, like http://script.aculo.us/

viencarl 12-12-2008 04:11 AM

I need to check it out:):):)

plsureking 12-12-2008 04:15 AM

I tried the site but all I saw was a "YOU'RE TOO FUCKING UGLY TO USE THIS WEBSITE" error message. Sigh.
