Who's Doing a Tubeish, Paysite CMS?

I am looking for something, kinda, like that. Not for a tube however. But using the concept of a tube functionality. I am surprised there is not one out yet, although I am sure MANSION or one of the others is working on if for $30,000.00 license.

I am looking for a solid coder who can do some projects, this being one of them. I was in talks with one chappie on collaboration, but here is the thing. I am not paying for the development costs at top dollar, and then they get to run off an resell it on their own later.

Either you share in development, (you take less on the front end) or you take the job and all rights remain with my company. You sign a NDA, and non-compete.

There are a couple of different ways to get my project done, whether spreading it over 2-3 months on a part time basis, and you being paid at bench marks along the way. Or you working on some form of hourly per week.

I prefer a U.S. based coder, but will consider others North American if you can show me a portfolio that you know what you are doing. GFY lore will not cut it.

I am not looking to be the next Zorg, or fawked up. I am looking to develop something for my own stuff. Should it turn into something with additional application or sales and support later. That will be a decision I make.

As I mentioned,.. if I pay top dollar, full development cost. I retain all rights. If you are doing co-development, then you significantly lower your bid and cost. Then as it is finished, we look at resale.

If you know of a good coder, especially one with tube background, point em my way.

Thanks.

k0nr4d 12-13-2008 09:49 AM

If you want something for your own stuff, I can help you out but I would not be interested in any sort of co-development or resale rights as there wouldn't be much advantage that I can see over just doing the whole project myself and releasing it as a product. I am based in europe but up all night and fluent in english. I have a custom tube portfolio a mile long.

In talks with different coders, that was something they had brought up. Co-development, or they would mention me paying the premium for it, but they could resell it over and over later. Nothing I am interested in.

If I pay for it, I want it for myself. Meaning, rights belong to me. Not that we develop something together, and then after the fact and getting paid. They release a support software, like tube, and then make more money on it.

I am completely fine with what you are saying. I pay, I own. At the end, we encode it, and call it a day.

You still looking for a partner?

brandonstills 12-14-2008 12:23 PM

$30,000 for a license. You can hire a coder to create pretty much anything for you from scratch for that much.

I have my employee using Wordpress to create a CMS for my VOD site. The WP install gives it Web 2.0 features derived from WP's intrinsic functionality and that extended by plugins. It could work as a pay site CMS as well if you put some ingenuity into it. And it's free too!

I was thinking about this as well. I think it would be easy to use WP as a database driven CMS.

Ok so shouldn't be taking a break from NYE at 2am to post ... but wtf ...

anyways .. I have version 2.1 of WP as paysite cms experiment rocking at the moment ..ratings, popularity, models, 2257 & a few other neat stuff kicking.

Was thinking in a rev or two (maybe around 2.5-3.0) that it would be a good idea to open source or CC license or maybe just give to people who give me a link or cool story or something etc etc....

If it sounds like what you are looking for ICQ me (I know you have me on there as we chatted about something unrelated a few weeks ago) ... or shoot me an email (same for anyone else who would want it) ....

Jeff, I'd be curious to see what you did. I have WP 2.7 working in a similar fashion on one of my sites. I would never have my employee design static pages again. I am gonna email you to check your implementation out.

Looking forward to it BRO.

I need more than one. One for one site, and one for pay site/vod/upsell type of thing.
Kinda hard to explain, but we'll see how it shakes out.

Grats on your script in the meantime.

Wow, that site looks great! I'd like to throw in a shameless plug that the site is run on our MAS content management System, with only 2 hours of customization to get the unique look and feel.

It really is lovely!

Hit me up if you like what you're seeing and think we at Mansion Productions could build a unique solution for you!

By the way, Barefootsies, I asked for an ICQ authorization last Thursday when you bumped the thread so I could talk to you about a custom CMS solution. I also sent you an ICQ, but never got authorized, or a response. I know ICQ can be very flaky. Please hit me up when you get a chance and I can go over what solutions I can offer you. :)

My ICQ acts up all the time. I sometimes do not get the IM's, other times 2 weeks later, and so on. I normally use it for touching base on projects, or catching up hit and miss stuff. Any business proposals I normally have people e-mail me. That way it does not get lost.

I'll hit you up in a bit.

Excellent! Thank you so much. If we end up having a difficult time connecting I'll make sure to send you an e-mail on Monday, also. Right now I'm at Xbiz and working from a hotel room...

Feel free to call me on the phone in my sig file, too. It's my cell. I look forward to speaking with you either way. :)
