Mac or PC?

I know this has to be one of the oldest threads in the book. Mac has been coming on strong with their new products. I think 2 years ago this would be 99% MAC...these days I am wondering...

Do you prefer Mac or PC?

HorseShit 12-16-2008 07:08 PM

you look so coked out lol

hominid4 12-16-2008 07:12 PM

I use Macs so I can work more instead of messing with viruses or doing tech work on a PC.

Dagwolf 12-16-2008 07:12 PM

Here's a conversation I had at the blind school last week:
(subject of Mac vs. PC comes up)
Me : Macs are pretty good
Blind girl: Macs suck.
Me: The're supposed to be pretty good for graphics... oh.
Blind girl: And I should care... why?
Me: So what are you doing this weekend?

hominid4 12-16-2008 07:13 PM

jdavis, do you know the girl's name in your avatar? Love those legs and ass!!!!

HorseShit 12-16-2008 07:17 PM

I do yes.

EthnicLover 12-16-2008 07:22 PM

Much prefer my Mac. In my experience a PC is much slower on every front. Also, there are so many keyboard shortcuts for my Mac that make life so much simpler. "My, my, my", I'm so possessive.

I'm also really tired of the whole IE and Firefox difference for web design. IE7 is much better but there are still a few differences.

BobG 12-16-2008 07:22 PM

I prefer Mac and so does Munki

NoWhErE 12-16-2008 07:37 PM

Anything that can be done on a PC can be done on a mac.

Except a few games. But who cares? we're all work-a-holics and don't have time for games no?

Super Negro 12-16-2008 07:39 PM

whichever is in front of me at the time. I have 4 pc's and 3 mac's, whichever I land on is what I work on

they are both equally as good, no matter what anyone says, it is all a matter of personal preference of the GUI these days

bad2rich 12-16-2008 07:40 PM

Macs are good because I am in the creative arts, but Macs are overpriced. I like Final Cut Pro, and you cant run that in Windows, so at home I have to use Sony Vegas 9.0 and it isn't as good

tony286 12-16-2008 07:48 PM

If 2009 doesnt totally blow I want to upgrade my editing rig to a mac setup.

For vegas are you using the home version because on the pro version 9 hasnt come out yet. There is a big difference.

This is what I am using, I got it a few days ago so I am still getting used to it. It's called the "platinum" edition. It seems to work OK, but I prefer the layout of FCP.

For some reason, creative programs are never as good in Windows as they are in Mac. I feel the same way about Dreamweaver, and thats the same program.

What a dumb response. There are some good arguments either way but this isn't one of them. Just a teeny amount of intelligence and tech savvy and neither of the above is ever an issue...pc or not.

Spunky 12-16-2008 08:16 PM

Never really had a urge to switch to a Mac.

macs are beyond just good for graphics. they are stable, run faster, this includes just opening apps, updating, making usable changes.

they are really the tops for people that get things done, so much easy inter application tools and features, just makes work faster and easier.

SomeCreep 12-16-2008 08:26 PM

Yo Jay, without the stache, you look about 10 years younger.

So what's everyone keyboard shortcuts in os x? Also, is there a way to make it so I don't always have to type my password in when I want to change the name of a image or folder? Things are always locked it seems like until I type my password in.

I'm a mac newb!

Hopefully 2009 doesnt blow so I can make the switch.

Raym 12-16-2008 08:50 PM

I love my MAC. I maxed the ram and got 2 terabyte hard drives. It is bullet proof. Anything that I have to use a pc for I will run a virtual pc on my Mac. (VM fusion)
Mac all the way.

Biggy 12-16-2008 08:51 PM

When I hit Amsterdam in Sept, i took my macbook pro. Going into the trip, I first turned it on, and I hated it. When I came back from Amsterdam, I never used ANY of my PCs since, except when I left my macbook at the office.

You notice there's a new security hole found in Windows every few days?
Fuck that!

You might also consider Linux - it's free, almost all of the software is free,
and it's secure. It's the same as what your server probably, so as you use
your own computer you learn to work with the server too and you can more
easily test scripts and such. We've been using Linux exclusively for many
years and it's worked quite well for us. A good distribution for starting out,
and actually for advanced users too, is Fedora.

MichaelP 12-17-2008 12:24 PM

Mac mac mac :)

Godsmack 12-17-2008 12:30 PM

I prefer OSX, not Mac.. i now have 3 Apple products and they all broke.. now my iMac 24 broke as well :-(

I am building an E-FIX machine with PC parts soon and run OSX on it..

Chicks Delivery 12-17-2008 12:38 PM

stickyfingerz 12-17-2008 12:41 PM

I don't know if this is the oldest thread, but it's the dumbest thread.

If not for Gates, Mac would be out of business.

Unlike some idiot here, nothing that can be done on a Mac can't be done on a PC either. In fact, has Mac ever finally gotten around to getting 3d Studio Max yet. What a joke!

Mac is for the socially elite trend setters. Their commercials should expose how bad off they are by trying to have to explain how much better they are.

Granted Vista Sucks, but Mac is no solution to that problem!

james_clickmemedia 12-17-2008 12:57 PM

I like my macbook

candyflip 12-17-2008 12:58 PM

I love me some OSX. Here's a list of what I have running it in our house right now:

2 21' iMac desktops
1 MacPro desktop
1 Macbook Pro
1 Macbook
1 PowerMac G4
1 Gateway Dual Core
1 HP Quad Core
and even 1 Apple TV with full OSX install hooked up to the TV.

Nah...OSX vs. Vista was a game-chager.

HomerSimpson 12-17-2008 02:28 PM

still can do much more things on pc so my vote goes for PC...

Ramos 12-17-2008 02:34 PM

37 is the new 27.

tranza 12-17-2008 02:37 PM

PC all the way!

tahiti 12-19-2008 02:13 AM

PC is Personal Computer so Mac are PC. The question is Vista or OSX ;-)

OSX for sure!

2012 12-19-2008 02:17 AM

the whole set up is kind of silly TBH, it actually looks like he got a few of his mac fanboy friends to come over and they now share that pic all around saying it is each their own set up :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh
