Refund for Bootleg DVD ?
One of our customers is requesting a refund for a bootleg DVD, of one our movies. It's a really good copy, we do admit, except it must of been burned on a home DVD player so it doesn't play the minute you insert it in a DVD player. You actually get blue menu, and have to hit play, so that it will play the video_ts file.
He also submitted several DVDs, which he did buy from us, but accidentally had purchased them before in the past. We verified that he did buy them twice, just not the original of the bootleg copy, and will give him a credit so that he can buy more products from us. I'm trying to come up with a polite way of saying, sorry no refund for this bootleg copy of one our DVDs, which you didn't buy from us. I just can't seam to do it, as I would prefer to send him a brick, or a nice :321GFY notice, don't try this again type message? |
Could it be that he is the 'bootleger' and accidentally sent back the wrong copy.

let us know if you refunded him, in that case i will fire up my dvd burner ;)

ok based on your description this could be taken one of 3 ways.
either 1. he returned a home burned copy (personal backup) of an original he bought from someone else by mistake 2. he bought a really good pirated copy of your video (with all the nice labeling and stuff on the dvd) 3. he is making bootleg copies and basically costing your millions assuming it was an obvious fake, (wrong disk in the right box kind of thing) send him a nice letter telling him that he unfortunately sent you "backup" copy of the disk, reminding him that while he does have a fair use right to back up his content he must get rid of cede backup when he asks for a refund for the original. If it is the second, politely tell him that you have forwarded the pirated copy to the RCMP /FBI whatever and would like to get the information on who he bought it from since that person was obviously selling pirated dvds. if you want to put the fear of god in him mention that you would hate to see a good customer like be wrongfully accused of being such a pirate if he failed to produce such proof. |
Not worth the aggravation ... customer is always right ... Just replaced the title with your original ....:2 cents:

Why would you refund him (or give credit)??????
|
Ask him who sold him the bootleg and if he says he wont tell send the cops over. If he does tell give him half credit of a new dvd. then go after the other guy
