My opinion is that, once again she is using his name to try to garner a little "fame" and attention.

It actually makes Buffett look like a dick. Whether the girl is a spoiled brat or not, you don't disown someone in your family over something like that. Sure you don't have to give them money, but why treat your family members like employees?

You wonder if a guy like Buffett is so caught up in the business world that he can't differentiate it from his personal life.

I thought the same thing at first but then realized that she lives in San Francisco and it is stupid expensive there. However, I have friends in San Francisco and I know they don't make that much money and they do okay... so the location is not really a good excuse. I think the national median income is like $33,000, an article about a girl complaining about $40,000 with no cable TV is kind of silly.

Yeh, I kind of thought the same thing... I have heard that he is very hardheaded and I really wouldn't expect any different from him. Seems like they are both at fault...

ya, by giving them a pile of money or a high weekly/bi-weekly/monthly allowance you pretty much teach them that people should give them shit and that they should have no responsibilities.

I'm reading the Buffet book - it is very clear that business is number 1-100+ on list of priorities.

Maybe it isn't "flesh and blood" but he treated her as such for 26 years... changing on the spot and then using that as an excuse is BS. He did not like that she did something against his wishes and also used the family name to do so.

And that's 100% his prerogative. It's his money.
