Will our customers come back?

You work for years building a huge affiliate program and getting customers, eventually, repeat customers (aka gold) in this business. Now, I'm wondering, these customers are not spending their money due to the recession, Christmas et al, but, if this recession takes very long, will these customers come back? One of my affiliate friend was earning approximately $200 a day, he's now earning $40, and he asked me if once the economy recovers, will he go back to $200.

I think not, once you lose your customers, they won't come back. :(

catch 22 because they will come back for new stuff but new stuff costs money to shoot

What about for affiliate programs? Dating sites and cam sites? Do you see those customers coming back to renew their accounts or become active anytime soon?

This is exactly right! As people can not afford to spend money on non-necessities (like porn), they conduct searches, and sure enough... Hey, look at all of the FREE tube sites!

If the free tube sites are not defeated in 2009, then the days of making money off of new content will be history.

Many of us have said this a million times - If you give away the milk no one will ever buy the cow.

Tube sites of all varieties (legal, illegal, niche, etc) are ALL giving away the milk!!!

If you are providing surfers with scenes that exceed 30 to 60 seconds, then they do not need to join sites. Provide a tube site where you are offerring thousands of free clips in all lengths and varieties, and you are guaranteeing that sales will get worse and worse.

If you are running a tube site, or funding a tube site, or in any way helping this stupid business model to spread its cancer throughout this industry, then YOU are part of the problem!

I can't believe how many people are getting involved in this nonsense, with such short-sighted logic - it is truly mind boggling!

There has to be a way to stop this nonsense, or else I predict almost all of the producers on this board will be belly-up by the end of the new year.

Boom, count it!

Exactly right.

Many of us have been through this before, and 8 years later. Are still here.

change your strategy. offer something else.

Recession rule #1: grab and smother your current clients. do whatever it takes for repeat business

Once you find free porn, there's not much reason to ever go back... that's why I like personality sites

Exactly. What kind of member-marketing do you presently employ? What cancellation marketing do you have in place? Start thinking about retaining present members, member perks, and future marketing strategies to retain/get them back. Add value to their memberships now, don't wait until they are gone...they might give up going to the movies or happy hour before they give up their Internet and online entertainment...
