I had a shit load of fucking reports in my mailbox, so I log into my stats and about shit. Keep in mind, this is for all of two motherfucking days. 12/17-19/08

18869 login attempts. 18661 unsuccessful.
17702 different usernames tried to login from 156 different IP ranges from 83 ISPs in 29 countries.

I don't even have mine setup for emails so no telling what's going on....As long as my bandwidth bill is straight, I'm straight.

It's normally feast or famine. Some days, nada. Other days, fucking thousands.

probably most of those are caused by one or a few individuals using proxies

one reason why i use proxypass for over 6 years now, plus ip gets killed after a few wrong attempts and they keep their proxy db on spot

You misread a digit.

SB does the same.

After a few missed attempts, they are locked out, and IP blocked. I did not copy that part of the report(s). You see that more on the individual reports, then doing it over day(s).

I love sb... within a few minutes of initial setup on ours it blocked out a few hundred access attempts...

hm ... thats ordinary bruteforce attack with 18k combolist ... strongbox is the best security so far, few bad attempts and ip is blocked. thats why i dont understand "17702 different usernames tried to login from 156 different IP ranges from 83 ISPs in 29 countries." ... it means your sblogin can allow 100+ bad attempts before it block ip? strange ... :)

So I would have to look at the settings to confirm your theory toots.

It means they tried 100 times from that IP AFTER it was suspended.
They wouldn't have gotten in even if they chanced on a valid user/pass,
so those 100+ attempts were a waste of the attackers time. (Which is
what we want, for them to waste their time on something that can't
succeed, rather than doing something else which could succeed.)
