Can't get in touch with them and GFY did not load then loaded very badly.

With the packet loss level's I'm seeing, I'd venture a guess that there was a cable cut on a big bundle somewhere, and the resultant BGP traffic balancing has heavily congested their other lines, causing said packet loss.
