is Email every going to become a reliable business tool?
It is frustrating how often when you send important email how it seems to disappear into a black hole that leaves you wondering if it got there or if people even check their mail or spam filters or whatever.
So many times I have emailed a contact email asking about purchasing a domain..... never hear back, not even an acknowledgement. Same goes for many sponsors, half the time there is zero response. etc etc "receipt acknowledgement" should be built into email hosts, with a "read acknowledgement" as well, at least it wouldn't leave us wondering if the person read it and just doesn't care enough to even respond or if it ever even got looked at :2 cents: |
its prolly not the email... they're just ignoring you.
|
as for domain inquiries, lots of people just ignore them
as for sponsors, half of them are unserious/not professional or have idiot sales reps. overall though I agree, I hate when people don't reply to e-mails or mails get lost in shitty spam filters |
i prefer im because of this..
some of the problem is technology based and the other problem is too much information to process for people... |

I have a feeling that many email inboxes are sitting untouched with 1500 unread emails in them out there |
I despise checking my email. It's usually just sponsor newsletters with a few emails from newbies sprinkled in that don't really deserve a reply. On the off chance that I get an email that's worth reading, it rarely has a subject line that intrigues me enough to open and read the message.
ICQ has the same issues. I get tons of "you there?" or "yo" messages. Those don't warrant a reply either. I guess if you want a response, make the subject eye catching enough to make the recipient want to read it. |
There is something I really hate about emails, and that is when people dont answer the questions you have spend time writing down.
When I tell them that I have lost interest in their product because they were unable to answer my simple questions, they usually go nuts |
I usually do an e-mail with an ICQ follow-up if I get no response. Personally I prefer e-mail over telephone by far, and oftentimes I prefer it over ICQ as well.
E-mail allows both parties to thoroughly think through what they want to say and what they want to get done. E-mail eliminates a lot of wasted time. |
