Header loads last on TGP site. Help!

hi guys, I just designed this site:
http://18xteens.com/
and the header loads last.
I tested it here without the smart thumbs script, and I still get the same result. Here's the test: http://www.wedesig.net/clients/duart...ns/index.shtml

Anyone has an idea how to solve this?

Thanks soooo much!

Try removing this stuff
onLoad="MM_preloadImages('images/header1.jpg','images/header2.jpg')"

Your second one is all fucked up... I get "[an error occurred while processing this directive] "

czarina 01-14-2009 02:57 PM

yes, the error is because it can't find the script, since I uploaded it to my other server. That's not an issue. The issue is that the header loads AFTER the thumbs.

The onLoad="MM_preloadImages('images/header1.jpg','images/header2.jpg')" is a preload script that is there to try to make it load FIRST, but not even that is working.

Anyone? Please?

Take the header out of the stylesheet background and just hardcode it into a centred table or something

czarina 01-14-2009 03:08 PM

ouch, hate using tables, when everything else is so clean with just CSS. But heck, I'll give it a try!

You don't need to use tables; simply insert the header image within the div

the problem is that CSS backgrounds tend to load last...

czarina 01-14-2009 04:23 PM

gotcha! Thank you so much, that saved me!

SmokeyTheBear 01-14-2009 04:26 PM

yah i would take the header out of the css and just put it into the div, its taking longer to read the css than it is to load the thumbs so it loads after

SmokeyTheBear 01-14-2009 04:28 PM

btw kudos for actually taking the time to fix it, those kinda bugs always irritate me, people often just give up and forget about it

Browsers render pages from front to back (in terms of "layers")... which means backgrounds load last - your header is a background.

HorseShit 01-14-2009 04:32 PM

did someone actually pay for that design?

Godsmack 01-14-2009 05:31 PM

thanks for using ST :thumbsup

ThumbLord 01-14-2009 06:06 PM

so this was a paid job as in somebody paid for this?
just curious

Use a CSS sprite if you want a universal loading time of all template imagery ... :2 cents:
