I wonder if releasing the safety on his handgun at all indicated to him that he was in fact holding a handgun.

they are supposed to be totally different so there is no confusion. I could see them being on the same side of the equipment belt, if you're a right-hander, do you really want to be tasering somebody southpaw? Probably not, but claiming you mistakenly pulled and USED the taser that's like saying you mistook your sister-in-law's boobs for your wife's because they are generally similar=/

I highly doubt he was in segregation as they are only let out an hour a day, one at a time, restrained, and with escort. Same as with showers. Their food is delivered to their door and there are never more than one inmate out of his cell at any given time.

The only way a segregation inmate can be got to is during escort out of the cellhouse for either visitation, doctor or dental visits, etc.

Segregation is total lock down.

Bottom line: he killed a guy (unarmed and handcuffed, not a threat to the public at that point), and its the former policeman's fault....

Using the "I accidentally thought it was my Taser and not my gun" argument is like saying...

"Oh I have two credit cards, one with no money, and one with money. I accidentally swiped the one with no money and over-drafted my account."

Then, calling the CC company to get your money back because you accidentally swiped the wrong card...
