Iowa makes shooting for profit a felony

Paid shoots of actors for profit are now felony convictions under a new proposed adult trafficing law.

It was orginally wrote to capture pimps who brought young chics from chi town and made them dance at little clubs around the midwest. But lawmakers included ANY for-profit endevour involving sex (of legal age adults inc mind you) and specificlly pointed out website shoots/photpgraphers where actors are hired to perform as being punishable as a felony and 10-15 yrs sentences. Does melissa midwest still shoot? hm.

So...
no shooting there!
dumb asses; I can hear their bibles banging from here.

After Shock Media 01-29-2009 02:18 AM

Well that will not really stick at any higher courts, bound to fuck with someone or a few people first though.

Iowa really isn't a Bible banger state. The state typically votes Democrat and has a pretty strong union presence. This is just a stupid law that somebody snuck in and will get struck down once fought. Talk about a waste of time...

Thats the problem. ONCE they get it to court. In the mean time, they have been arrested, Put in jail and had to either post bond, or wait till trial, had to hire an attoreny, and there is NO WAY to recoup that lost money. The State will NOT HAVE TO pay damages even if it's against your rights. And in MOST states, that record will stay with them FOREVER.

The Iowa circuit courts aren't bound by the decisions that affect CA and I believe NH. They could decide to let the law stand.

G-Rotica 01-29-2009 02:59 PM

You got a source on this? I live in Iowa and have to see anything about this.

NaughtyRob 01-29-2009 03:00 PM

Here's an article from the Des Moines Register...

At this point, the law hasnt passed. It passed the Iowa Senate and is heading to the House, then it has to go to the Gov.

Bill includes forced stripping in human trafficking ban

It would be illegal to make a profit by forcing someone to strip at a club under changes to the state?s human trafficking law that received Iowa Senate approval today.

The bill would prohibit making money from forcing a person of any age to do a live or public act meant to arouse sexual desire.

?Sexually explicit performances? would include sexual acts in front of a camera for a paid Internet site, or pornographic photos that are then sold, said state Sen. Steve Sodders, a Democrat from State Center.

The crime is a felony, but the punishment depends on the age of the victim.

The bill, Senate File 27, passed 50-0. It now goes to the House.

collegeboobies 01-29-2009 06:59 PM

boudoir 01-29-2009 07:25 PM

"force" ... so just get a signed release confirming that the actor/model is not coerced.

pr0 01-29-2009 07:29 PM

Anyone we know really live in Iowa?

SmokeyTheBear 01-29-2009 08:31 PM

sounds like the debate would stem from the word "forced" , if you have a contract how would they prove you "forced" someone

Joshua G 01-29-2009 09:10 PM

We should give Iowa back to France & demand a refund

LiveDose 01-29-2009 09:11 PM

The freaks who pushed that law are probably the same people fucking sheep at night in the back of a barn.

BTW Melissa is not in Iowa.

DaddyHalbucks 01-29-2009 09:14 PM

Iowa is the most boring state I have ever visited.

chadknowslaw 01-29-2009 10:31 PM

The proposal does NOT make shooting content illegal!!

The changes are to the human trafficking law. Here are the important sections:

4. "Human trafficking" means participating in a venture to
recruit, harbor, transport, supply provisions, or obtain a person for
any of the following purposes:
a. Forced labor or service that results in involuntary
servitude, peonage, debt bondage, or slavery.
b. Commercial sexual activity through the use of force,
fraud, or coercion, except that if the trafficked person is under the
age of eighteen, the commercial sexual activity need not involve
force, fraud, or coercion.

And the proposed changes:

FROM

"Commercial sexual activity" means any sex act on
behalf of which anything of value is given, promised to, or received by any person and
includes, but is not limited to, prostitution, participation
in the production of pornography, and performance in strip clubs.

TO:

1 1 Section 1. Section 710A.1, subsection 1, Code 2009, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 1. "Commercial sexual activity" means any sex act or sexually explicit performance for which anything
1 5 of value is given, promised to, or received by any person and
1 6 includes, but is not limited to, prostitution, participation
1 7 in the production of pornography, and performance in strip
1 8 clubs.

This does not affect legitimate production or strip clubs -- it is part of the human trafficking law that makes it a crime to force someone into sexual slavery.

Spunky 01-29-2009 10:39 PM

I'd move pretty damn quick, north to Alaska

MuleScrote 01-30-2009 12:16 AM

I'm in Iowa...

I was told it was illegal to shoot anything hardcore in Iowa about 8 yrs ago. It's probably a new law to better include the internet in legislation.

I had equipment already and wife was recruiting talent. Talk about a bummer...

If the person is already being "forced", what's the stop them from being "forced" to sign a contract saying they aren't being "forced"?

It really makes no sense.... :helpme
