The Legend of Prester john (History)
 

Strange piece of history I've been running across a lot lately. In the Middle Ages people believed there was a Christian Kingdom in the East lead by a man named "Prester John". Christians hoped he would be able to form a second front against Islam.

Amusing thing is the belief persisted long after Prester John would have died from being ancient
