Jut curious why are you a Republican?
I am not starting this thread to slam anyone just educate myself. Just curious what does the republican party stand for now?
what is the main reason you vote Republican? What has the party done for you? |
I now consider myself more of an independent/fiscal conservative. The Republican party is pure shit these days. There is no defense for the way that party functions anymore.
I just could never get myself to vote for democrat politicians, many who preach one way and live completely differently. How about you Roger? Is your vote cast for industry reasons or other? |

no matter what we will always pay for everything and get the scraps unless you get lucky enough to live outside the box. And yes democrats seem to be less focused on religion controling there lives. So I hope it doesnt effect our industry and they focus on real issues. war saved us the last 8 years |
I always considered myself a democrat in highschool/college been thinking more like a social liberal fiscal conservative.. I dont like all the focus on god and shit.. let people have abortions.. but spend money in a better way
|
republican + democrat = same thing

I have never understood people who align themselves with one party and think that means they don't have to come up with an opinion of their own on any individual issues.

I'm not a Republican or Democrat. I'm an Enlightened Patriot as defined in the 18th Century. Other Political Parties are simply Un-american. I believe in my country, not because of which political party currently holds it's offices, but in the people that are part of it.
Give me 2 options to choose from, neither of which I believe in, I choose to not participate. Give me 1 option that I can believe in, and you have my vote. George Washington had no affiliation. |
Ron Paul all the way!
|
there was a time, for many years, that being/voting Republican was for the sole purpose of saving my ass on taxes. the Republican party had always protected big corps and the self employed in that respect. not true anymore and there are other things that i could no longer agree with ie: environmental issues and military spending. for the first time since i turned 18 and could vote, i did not feel like the party i had chosen was the lesser of two evils. wish their was a hybrid that encompassed the best of both parties.
i will beat your sweet ass if you slam me for being honest :winkwink: |
Because Republicans have a better animal... who wants to be represented by a donkey?
|
Republican Values have nothing to do with Bush or the Christian Right and if you ask me the current version of "Republican" is skewed and warped.
I am a Republican, I do agree with True Republican policies. What I am getting at is that the last 10 years of what the Republicans have sold are hardly true Republican values. Last 10 Years of the Republican rule was like being run by Walmart executives selling out the country as a whole. It was a horror as Republicans flocked to big business money and shit on everyone else for special interests. |

If you want to know the honest truth of the matter... both parties are full of shit... every platform/policy that they promote is pure marketing and nothing else... they are not guided by principles... they are guided by votes and will do anything to get them. We live in a world of catchy slogans that don't mean a fucking thing because the majority of the people are way too fucking stupid to even understand how much they are being fucked by everyone. BOTTOM LINE: The government doesn't represent the people anymore and is no longer capable of doing so. It represents corporate interest only and by corporate I mean George Bush's base. |
a punk from the Green Party here
|
I like small Gov and low taxes, but a very well funded Military. Since neither party does that, and never really has. I'm not aligned with either.
Right now, you are republican if you are Christian and want zero abortion (ie no choice for women), that makes you 'right', everything else is liberal trash talk. |
I vote BNP :thumbsup

I use to be a true blue Conservative. I believed in what they said.
(A) Let businesses be free to make money and it will trickle down to us. (B) Allow the wealthy to keep more of what they earned and they will earn more and in doing so will make us richer. (C) Cut taxes so I can spend more of my money. So IMO this is what happened. (A) They were left free to ship jobs out of the country I use to live in leaving a lot of people unemployed. It never trickled down, it went out. (B) They did earn more and instead of making us richer they made themselves richer and us poorer. (C) Yes they did tell me they would cut taxes and sometimes they did, so I went to the mall and bought goods made in their Chinese factories. But I had to pay more in taxes on fuel to get there, the roads were not maintained and when I got sick thank God I live in a country that believes in Free Health Care. If it were left to Republicans I would spend a fortune in insurance to find it does not cover what I have or get a bill for $100k to cure it. But I'm not a Socialist either. To me it seems politicians are either in it to fill their pockets or worse still to make the beliefs and ideals work in the real world. |
libertarian, i stand with my founding fathers.
you dems and repubs can fight like goofballs... I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it. - Thomas Jefferson The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it always to be kept alive. -Thomas Jefferson I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. -Thomas Jefferson To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical. – Thomas Jefferson I have sworn upon the altar of god, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man. – Thomas Jefferson (1800) the man grew marijuana and travelled to China and ILLEGALLY brought back seeds of cannabis that were *better* strains than grown in US at the time. these wolves in sheep clothing we call politicians were not the men we used to have at the helms. |
At this point.....both parties are so tainted by special interests that I hate both of them:2 cents:
|
I've always been mostly a constitutional constructionist, and everything leads from there. I have tended to vote Republican because they tended to not try to trample on as many of the first 10 amendments, but they have completely trod all over the 10th amendment for the last 8 years, and I feel that this is one of the most important in keeping the Federal Government in check, so I didn't help in 2006, when they lost the house and senate to the Dems.
Unfortunately, this latest MASSIVE growth in the Federal gov, represented by the so-called "stimulus" package, will NEVER be reversed. Even in the Republicans gain back control of everything 4 years from now, the Federal Gov. will never get smaller... ....It makes we want to cry. Both parties are going to allow the US to turn into one big Federal DMV. :( . . |

Good question. The only reason I find to be republican is if you are rich. In case you donīt, and you are still republican, then you are a complete idiot.

Well, after the big housing crash and all this market crap... he is now worth, $0 Anyone that thinks you can make more money off one party over the other, is a complete idiot. Probably why most that think this way are Republicans. |

It took very little to bring it crashing down, banks were over stretched, shares were not worth what we were told, jobs are disappearing and many are taking a cut in wages. But no problems, I just heard that all the companies begging the President for a hand out will only be allowed to pay their top execs $500K a year. Plus their wives, children and who ever else they can get on the pay roll. Yes those who led us into this mess are not going to suffer. :Oh crap |

The Democrats only core belief that I can discern is to protect their own party above all else. The best example was the Clinton impeachment where they essentially threw the law under the bus in the same style as Richard Nixon. I do not agree with the conservative social agenda of the far right, obviously. |
