UK or US Marines. Which team would you rather be on ?

So who do you think has a better marine and who can kick who's ass ?
I think the UK Marines are more trained and have better equipment to kick some ass.
If you were in a situation, who do you think can better save your ass and bring you back alive ?

US Marines

tony286 02-03-2009 11:43 PM

us marines

kmanrox 02-04-2009 12:09 AM

i am a US Marine and we've trained with the Royal Marines and I believe we are quite higher on the ass kicking scale.

babebuns 02-04-2009 12:33 AM

It's not really a fair comparison.

Explains it perfectly.

Sausage 02-04-2009 01:12 AM

Royal Marines or the SAS here hands down.

But they aren't the same thing .. there are so fewer of them because of the massive resources that go into training them, and how how incredibly hard it is to not only get selected but pass the training. Just not a fair comparison.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 02-04-2009 01:20 AM

They are on the same team and same page.

Britains armed forces are awesome so is Americas.
Lets keep it that way.

But...
Maybe the Brits could use some Raptors:)

Blazed 02-04-2009 02:01 AM

I would rather have US marines on my side due to there numbers but the Royal Marines are better trained but who cares, SAS >>>>>> anyone else.

roly 02-04-2009 02:31 AM

when the afghan war started, the uk marines had to be called in to fight in the mountains, because the US soldiers couldn't cope with the conditions.

But again its not a fair comparison. The SAS and Royal Marines are so fewer in number and trained for all terrain and conditions and trained to survive in extreeme conditions against unfair odds, often undetected. The US Marines training is totally different, and they aren't typically used or suited to what the SAS and Royal Marines were designed to do. Doesn't the US have a different name for their covert ops etite forces ?

Sarah_Jayne 02-04-2009 04:59 AM

Whoever has the ninjas on their side...they will beat the pirate side any day.

The Duck 02-04-2009 05:01 AM

I would be on Bear Grylls side.

DVTimes 02-04-2009 05:34 AM

UK

US are wimps next to the UK.

pornguy 02-04-2009 05:54 AM

Sounds to me like you might be comparing apples to oranges..

The US Marines are a step between the regular Army and the Navy Seals.. The UK are more like the seal teams and I would take a seal team any day.

Si 02-04-2009 06:02 AM

The Royal Marines! US marines kill eachover in too many friendly fire incedents :1orglaugh

Ive been in the army 5 years, where did you train with the BRM's?
I was with a mechanized division in the Italian army, summer and winter nato training is held in the black forest in Germany and trust me as an ousider, i have witnessed them whooping your US Marine's ass every time, when it comes up to "Up close combat" the BRM's slashed through Rangers and Marines positions like a hot knife through butter.

US Marines = brainless cannon fodder

marcjacob 02-04-2009 06:36 AM

I think they actually both have a different skill set. Thats why Britian and America work so well together. But the US Marines have numbers on their side.

I do think if the two countries went to war with each other, America would win hands down. I dont think any milirary expert would dispute that.

Being British, id rather be with my own boys.

marcjacob 02-04-2009 06:38 AM

Before I get called unpatriotic, you can love you country and be realistic at the same time :)

Most US soldiers seem to be like the stereotypical "jock".

TheDoc 02-04-2009 06:48 AM

I'm a Marine..

Royal Marines train much harder, they also train for fighting conditions like Afgan, and other various conditions found all over the world. (they are also all officers, ie college educated, I think)

Marines, train for amphibious fights, we like water not sand and rocks. The general Marine, even the grunt, is far below Royal Marine in combat training. It's like looking at our Army vs. our Marines, a huge ass difference.

But once you move into the Marine special forces, like SRT, you get groups just as small, just as trained, and better at the 'specialty' they are trained in than the Royal Marines.

But to be fair, the Royal Marines ARE a special forces combat team. I'm pretty sure you don't start as a Royal Marine, you are selected to become one.

Our SRT, Seals, ect teams totally rock the Royal Marines, in the specialized fields that they are trained in. That's the difference between our forces, and them.

iraqy marins :)

Iraq has Ocean ports, it's in a channel off the Indian Ocean. Most of those big booms you saw when the war started, came from war ships.

And don't forget the U.S. Marines are the Police for the Military.. We have to be in every combat zone, water or not.

The US would win because of numbers not because of skill.

UK is the enemy

CIVMatt 02-04-2009 07:40 AM

Royal Marines are a crazy bunch of badasses, I'd still take the US Marines though

They would win because of their huge defense budget and the fact the UK is a small island.

The UK is spending around $70billion where as the US is closer to $700billion.

When you look at man for man and comparable forces the fact the UK is above the US in so many areas considering the huge gulf in money is quite amazing.

Well your right on a few points but wrong on the details what no one here has mentioned is the UK Marines full name is Royal Marine Commandos the difference between the US and the UK is therefore quite drastic,as with everything the US Army does is generally done a much larger scale than the UK.

The UK marines are not special forces however and you can go straight into the marines I've met with quite a few of them and had a few late night drinking sessions even went for a fly with them in the Sea-king commando (old rattling stinky tin can if you want to know)fantastic pilots flying below the cliff of dover is alot of fun.

So UK Marines everytime (PS this is where we get the recruits for the SAS and the SBS)

Bro Media - BANNED FOR LIFE 02-04-2009 08:28 AM

If it's not American, it's shit. :2 cents:

AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!

kowalsky 02-04-2009 08:51 AM

I would be a SAS!

Phil 02-04-2009 09:07 AM

lets see. UK special forces or rotc kid in uniform? Hmmm..

Twistys Tim 02-04-2009 09:11 AM

The US Marines are more of an mechanized infantry unit, whereas the Royal Marines are a much smaller and more specialized combat unit (mountain, arctic, desert, jungle, etc.).

The SAS is made up largely from Royal Marines and soldiers from the parachute regiment -- due to the specialized training that both of these units undergo.

It is not a fair comparison really.

John-ACWM 02-04-2009 10:23 AM

I saw documentaries with UK marine and they are pretty awesome.

Very true bro. Just shows you that it's either the money with the US Marines is not utilized to the best possibilities or that the good olll american boys are just not as smart as the brits are and can't comprehend the training to go head to head.
if you ask me however the american government is not about training but rather about masses. the more people they get into the marines the more they believe they can overwhelm the so called enemy.
so for them it's a revolving door and just care about who is the next guy to sign up.
