The Content + VOD + Tube Site Combo Offers
 

In the past two months, I have had a few coders, and designers contact me about working on a partnership where I supply the content, and they do the script for either VOD, or tube, or some kinda in between.

The premise is, I supply the goodies. They will build the script, do the marketing, and advertising, traffic, and so forth. We split the revenue 50/50.

I am wondering how many other people are considering this option?

I am not completely against it, but I am taking a bigger risk in my content, and it getting ripped, and so forth. Plus reinforcing some of the surfer behavior. That said, I can think of a few ways this could be beneficial as well. So I am thinking on the idea. Although, I do not think script and marketing is a fair trade off for good content alone to get to 50/50. I think they need to BUY IN to something like this.

I am not against some free extra money. Just like those who've offered to build me an affiliate program, run it, and get a percent of profits. But at the same time. To get a decent percent of revenue, much less ownership, you need to drop cash on the table to show you are serious, and have the right motivation with your own money riding on the line.

I, personally, would consider something a bit different than the offers received so far in regards to the KIND of script. However, they need to bring some cash money to the table for me to seriously consider the risk versus rewards. That said, I am sure some other straight up content providers are considering this little offer right now, if they have not accepted already.

The major VOD sites pay their content providers 20% so if you can get 50% then go for it. I know a lot of people who have done this type of deal and never made moeny because 50% of nothing is still nothing if the site owner does not do any marketing.

Well, to be fair. I have been looking at 'something' in this realm for 6 months or more now. I just have not gotten around to it.

That is one of the down sides to where I live. Few local punks available who do good work, and local companies do not want to work with adult. Even in our case where we are not hardcore.

So what they are proposing, it not all that different from what I have up on my white board. In talking with Jim Gunn, Fungus, and others who are moving away from the 60/40 Clips4Sale model, and to their own VOD's. There is something to be had.

I have already got a domain registered for my project, along these lines, and been promoting it since last year. Right now it just points to a clip store. But can easily be changed, and already been promoting for the launch of a site that will come in time.

That is one of the reasons why I refuse to sell on those sites. The other is 'some' of them require you license, or share license, where they can offer on some other things (clips, content, tv, whatever) and supposedly once the license ends they will remove everything.

I am a fair guy, but trust in adult, especially that they will remove all content, is not really frisky feeling to me. I would rather do my own ideas for VOD and keep more money and not have to worry about policing my shit after the fact.

Once I get this 2nd office competed (beg. of next week). Hopefully I can get my girls doing the chat, and webcam for my site(s). That should be a nice addition. The members have wanted to talk to models for a long time.
