i don't think i've ever seen this play done this way before - the actual goal is nothing amazing, he's sliding into the goalie on the seat of his pants, he's perfected that already - it's what he does at center ice to get past the defenceman - incredible.

he's shot past Crosby now. it would be great for the NHL if Ovechkin's name was Crosby - the most exciting player in the game born in Canada or the US would help market it.

if Michael Jordan had been a Spaniard or German - it wouldn't have been the same.

I didn't get to see it live, but I'm addicted to SportsCenter and ESPN News...they replayed it like 10 million times.

I've seen that move done, but never done better than that.

Pulling off moves like that in the NHL takes supreme gonadage.

I think it is the intensity end to end is what is so amazing because break every part down and it is not that special - a poke check, a tight turn, a break away, the sliding shot from a nine mile skid on a ten mile track - but add em all up and the sum is much greater than the parts. The guy plays every game like it was his last day on Earth.

Who cares who is better in the Crosby vs Ovechkin debate? All that matters is that the sport is undoubtably making a comeback and for all the right reasons - exciting play, spirited players, and the continuing traditions of a great sport.

I like him because he loves scoring goals. He's got a passion for hockey and it shows every shift he is out there.

I played with him few times in NEW YORK. He is cool guy...Also hanged out with him in Washington and filmed him during art event.. WOW GOALS indeed. WOW

Crosby is not anywhere near Ovechkins level. Yes, he can pass but thats about it. If he doesn't have someone like Malkin on the wing or PP he's has nothing. Ovechkin can play with me and my beer budies and still score 50 goals and have 50 assists. Crosby is all about 2nd assists and PP points on #1 PP unit in NHL..
