Looking 4 Dating Script Software Preferrbly

.... with some social network pieces built into it.

I am going to bet I have to go custom on this as well, but I try and find a site or three as a 'baseline' for coders. Pointing out what I like, and do not like, different applications and functions.

I tried Dolphin, and while nice and robust. It was a bit cumbersome, and when I when looking for help, and designers. There were not many with any Dolphin experience, so they would shy away.

I have come across some very very basic scripts that are not what I am looking for. I am thinking a cross between a stereotypical dating site, and social networking. I am not sure if it exists. But I thought I would ask before planning for custom.

One with API, and affiliate program potential a plus.

I did get pointed to this little gem for social networking. Looks nice.

http://www.phpfox.com/

It's a social networking script, but can be used for dating sites.

Here is a free dating script http://www.tufat.com/s_free_dating_system.htm which you can buy modules/addons for

nation-x 02-23-2009 06:05 AM

by social networking features... what do you mean specifically...are you looking to clone myspace or facebook or do you want things like friends lists, private galleries, private movies, etc?

candyflip 02-23-2009 06:13 AM

For straight up dating functions, OSDate isn't a bad open source script.

"OpenLaszlo is 100% pure Java"

Good luck finding a qualified developer to make changes :D

True dat shit.

That is one of the reason I stay away from JAVA and FLASH only programmer typically. Too hard to find support later.

We have used it for client projects and it's not a bad little piece of software.

Iv heard the same thing about boonex too. Iv used the tufat script and bought mods for it, Iv never really had a problem with it, but saying that the boonex script does look pretty good and I did almost use that instead of tufat.

We've used both and Dolphin is a VERY buggy product.

Don't get me wrong, it did have problems when converting video uploads to flv but they've sorted the ffmeg build so it's sweet as a nut... I'm still a fan of osdate though ;)

Yeah, I have a license myself. I have done some work with it, even had some profiles done. But when it came to customization, and design work. No one would touch it. Those who bid on the project claiming they could knew, or could do, little to get what I was looking for.

Scripts like that shoot themselves in the foot when you can't find staff to work on them.

What version? because I've only ever had problems with the video encoding.

Yeah I guess at the end of the day it doesent really matter which script you choose to use as they are both free and Iv had bugs with purchased scripts, Its just down to what each webmaster is looking for in the script. I like the idea of them being open sourced as you can mod them to suit your own needs.

Couldent you find someone on the boonex forums or blogs to work on the script for you ?

I had posted a few different posts, and even contacted some people. As well as scriptlance types of sites.

Much easier for me to find a better solution where people can easily work on it.

Agreed, there's always a tweak here and there that needs to be done.

candyflip 03-18-2009 09:08 PM

There are two nice components for Joomla that would do the trick.

http://www.jomsocial.com - paid
http://www.joomunity.org - free
