So it was the democrats that fixed the skyrocketing fuel prices.

While true that demand and production issues did cause some of the problem, many of us believed that it was due to rampant speculation brought about by republicans when they snuck the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000 into a 11,000 page budget bill which was one of the last bills signed by outgoing president Bill Clinton in Dec 2000.

And who was responsible for that wonderfull bill? Such wonderful patriots as Phil Gramm (who also helped repeal the depression era Glass-Steagall Act which allowed all the banks etc. to take on that toxic debt that has caused the current woes), Ken Lay who used it to basically fuck California and eventually his own company (Enron).. Tom DeLay's wife was paid 200k to try and push the bill thru.... Oh.. Enron lobbyists helped draft the bill by the way..

Don't believe me? The bill that finally closed the "Enron loophole" that was in that Act was signed on June 18, 2008.. Note that Bush vetoed the bill but congress and the senate pushed it thru... Here's a graph of oil prices...

Big surprise there was no big news about this..

Sooo how exactly did the Democrats fix it?

Your attempt at misinformation has failed and is in poor quality.

It was not the Democrats that profited on Energy Prices nor by any remote sense related to the energy crisis.

Republican interests and consituencies are vastly dominated by Energy Lobbys.

They wrote and passed the bill that closed the loophole..

And does the American legislator really have all-encompassing power over global oil prices?

They had the power to close the loophole that had allowed for the rampant speculation...

Did they now? Prove it.

A funny chart does not prove anything that was the price of USD to the barrel.

It took the oil rich nations like Venesuala and Saudi Arabia to say, "Hey fuck you Americans our prices are the fucking same its not our fault you want to charge your people more for oil!"

It was OPEC that basically had to set the record strate and put out paper work that proved thier prices stayed the same and the hikes were not of thier doing.

What really happened is speculative buying of oil on the American side via yes. New Legislation put forward and signed off by the Republican congress.

Basically Americans did nothing more than Rape Americans. It was the Oil Companies that posted Record Profits in the Bush Years and those interest groups that had the Republican Congress eating out the palm of these interests made billions. Where are they now? Laughing thier asses off.

SO we are done here.
Bye.

the guy who wrote that little add on was a man named phil gramm and the republicans controlled the house and senate at the time.

The prices didn't drop because of the massive recession and decline in demand?

The US had been in a recession since Dec 2007 and yet the prices were skyrocketing.. The financial crisis didn't take hold etc. until September and the price was already plumeting .. Demand wouldn't have dropped so much to cause the plumet from 130 to 40... Even the oil execs sitting in front of congress told them that the price was mostly due to speculation..
