Are you still buying stocks?

Are you buying now, and going to continue all the way down? Will you wait until late this year, or wait for it to start climbing again? How much lower before you pour a lot of cash into it?

ztik 03-03-2009 04:33 PM

Thats just stupid to be buying now

You buy when the market starts recover

Its got a long way to go up

notime 03-03-2009 04:34 PM

without any form of control it's like a Casino...red or black...

seeandsee 03-03-2009 05:23 PM

i will buy oil stock when obama makes something :)

Furious_Male 03-03-2009 05:25 PM

I am buying Oil and dipping into financials (I like pain). I have been wrong all the way down but I positioned myself to be able to handle much lower lows. I will catch the full snap back.

I threw a very small percentage <10% of my money into stocks last year. Lost 65% of it so that sucked :disgust I'm sitting on the sidelines for now. I have a few stocks down 95%. That hurts.

mozadek 03-03-2009 05:33 PM

I am now heavily invested in AIG. Buy low, sell high.

HorseShit 03-03-2009 05:38 PM

Now is OK if you go with conservative brands that will be around in the future but dumb investments now won't help you any.

The Seduction of Art 03-03-2009 06:00 PM

I'm investing in a big hole in the ground that I will fill with canned cream corn and carnation instant breakfast.

Sausage 03-03-2009 06:09 PM

Nope, managed to dump most of my stocks over this past year, and just have a few more to dump. No way I would be in the market for at least another 12 months... maybe more.

Splum 03-03-2009 06:12 PM

You guys are gonna get fucking crushed, this is not even near the bottom.

camgirlshide 03-03-2009 06:17 PM

buying the exact same amount per month that I always have. If you were willing to buy when things were priced higher, why aren't you willing to buy now? Cost averaging will work in the long run. I'm in no rush.

To be honeast that is what most educated investors say. I have quite a few stocks and I have been sitting tight for the past 6 months but just started picking up a few this past week and to be honest things are doing well thus far.:winkwink:

ultimatebbwdotcom 03-03-2009 07:35 PM

Here and there, some fundamentally good companies available very cheap. Only really considering if the EPS is right and they have a decent yield.

:thumbsup

PornMD 03-03-2009 07:41 PM

I sold what I had a couple weeks ago when they were already down 40%. Perhaps I should have shorted them too because they're down another 10% or so since then. Oh well! I wouldn't buy ANYTHING right now - even companies not really affected by the recession are getting hit in the stock prices thanks to people selling everything they have (which yes I realize I'm one of them but god - already saw thousands of dollars evaporate :()

Good luck...

collegeboobies 03-03-2009 07:48 PM

yeah i am buying stocks of gold and chicken soup

Furious_Male 03-03-2009 07:54 PM

When I was shorting at Dow 13k everyone was saying how crazy I was. "The market is going to skyrocket" "14k and beyond" etc. etc. Now I am buying at Dow 6k and I am hearing the same thing. When market sentiment is this bad its a great contrarian indicator.

What it comes down to is doing what you are comfortable with. If you are buying just be sure you diversify and position yourself to handle the additional pain that this market can bring.

jalami 03-03-2009 10:51 PM

I guess buy stocks when the Dow is under 4,000 or S&P is under 500, buy gold even if it's $1000/oz, and for fuck's sakes buy some oil (USO or USL are good ETFs) -- that shit is cheap, and somebody's gonna need it in the next few years!

ExLust 03-03-2009 10:54 PM

Nope...not now.

Reak AGV 03-04-2009 02:51 AM

james_clickmemedia 03-04-2009 04:40 AM

Now seems like a good time to buy... you know the dow will hit 10,000 again in a few year. 3-5 yrs would be my guess.

STAROTICA 03-05-2009 05:02 PM

beautiful wallpaper!

Drake 03-05-2009 05:04 PM

Those lucky enough to buy stocks from companies that are going to be around when this is all over, are going to make a hefty profit. I wish I were a gambler.

strobi 03-05-2009 05:21 PM

Sure, been buying hard since 1 month ago... Don't care if this could go allot lower (it probably will) but I'll be laughing straight to the bank in 10 years :)

My whole portfolio is down around 22%, could have been far worse...

I've been hedging my portfolio, so if this thing sinks any lower, my hedging will cover the blow.

$5 submissions 03-05-2009 05:22 PM

I'm sure a few guys here SHORT: sell high, BUY back when it gets low
