I don´t believe in god, but I can understand people who do it. What I can´t understand in any circumstances is people that believe in Satan, Angels, Saints, Chupacabras or stupid things like that. This is the XXI century! Come on! Wake up people!!!

I don't believe in Satan but I do believe in evil. You don't need a mythical being for that, humans are capable of evil all on their own.

I'll tell you this.... if there is a devil, he's winning.

The human mind is fickle, and as pliable as jello. It's no shock people believe insane things. It's our nature.

I don't personally believe in the concept of God or the Devil, but I find people that act like they know there is no such thing just as amusing. There could be a giant platypus in the sky pulling all the strings for all we know. The truth is we don't know shit, and the only guy who had it right was Buddha, because he discouraged his followers from speculating on the existence of a god or a heaven or hell. We don't know shit, we might not ever know, even after we die, and anything else is just speculation...

why is everyone laughing at a statistic? there is no definition on what the devil is, other than an idea put forth by television and what is garnered from religious context

viewing the 'devil' as a force of nature that would be negative, would make this statistic even crazier, considering 30% don't even believe evil exists.

Now that is a religion I can get behind. I do love me some spaghetti...

With 90% or so believing in a God of some sort, 70% believing in a Devil seems right to me.

imagine you're an organic cell in human body with little mind (consciousness) on your own (at least you generate your own electromagnetic field that interacts with other cells), you live your life, do your thing, divide, die off, divide again, etc... - would you ever know you're a part of human body capable of many things beyond your scope of functionality? :)

concepts of God are primitive and made that way for primitive minds - which is not bad, imagine level of crimes we might have on the streets w/o so much religious influence over those minds or maybe we would be far more advanced, who knows.
we might as well be micro parts of something bigger and being inside of it we'll never see externally whole picture. we'll never know beyond our reach of understanding and experience of our existence. sober scientific approach without bigotry with get us far.

You should see some of the discussions on certain mainstream boards I am on. Its a 180 from this place for sure. Seems most of them are bible thumpers who think the idea of god, jesus, heaven and hell are the only logical conclusion anyone could come to. Just blows my mind how many people are so into it in this day and age.
