Tried Pepsi Throwback?

Anyone else tried some of the Pepsi Throwback? Picked some up the other day and just cracked one open. It's made like in the old days with natural sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup or other modern sweetner. Take it from someone who remembers, this is what it used to taste like!
It really seems to deliver the caffeine too! :eek2

Can't stand pepsi, horrible stuff!

candyflip 04-30-2009 01:18 PM

Drinking some myself right now.

I think the idea of going back to sugar for all sweet things, is a great idea. It would be nice if it proves successful. Hopefully Coke follows the trend.

damn with some ice chips and a chicken dinner cant go wrong with that

Sly 04-30-2009 01:24 PM

I bought a 12 pack of that yesterday and also of Mountain Dew, I have not tried either yet but I think I will tonight.

mynameisjim 04-30-2009 01:29 PM

Haven't tried it yet. But I did pick up a 4 pack of Pepsi Natural. Made with all natural ingredients and it's pretty good. I might pick up a Pepsi Throwback today.

I've been wishing they would just use regular sugar for years.

Normally I pass on soda, but this was marketed as a novelty that delivers pretty well as advertised I'd say!

Honez 04-30-2009 02:02 PM

Not a big soda drinker but, I just may have to try that.

the stuff bottled in Mexico still has cane sugar in it...buy it all the time at Costco and at some of the gas stations around town.

Pretty smart marketing though. Many people were not drinking soda because of HFCS. Of course, from a marketing perspective you can't come out with a new product that says your old product is unhealthy which is what they would be doing if they came out with a natural sugar soda aimed at people who don't want HFCS. So they put the spin on it that it's a "throwback" formula.

Pretty slick. On on my way to pick one up now :)

Sarah_Jayne 04-30-2009 02:34 PM

I noticed a version of it coming out over here. They are calling it Pepsi Natural. I saw an advert but haven't seen it in the stores yet. I think it is a good idea.

I think the Mt Dew Throwback is pretty good. It's not as thick and syrupy, and a little less carbonated. It actually has less sugar and carbs than the regular corn syrup Mt Dew.

I liked it.

Sly 04-30-2009 05:10 PM

Okay, I just had the Pepsi. It was good. It really had a resemblance to Coke with sugar in it so that similarity obviously is the sugar and I'm sure that I can expect something similar from the Mountain Dew when I try that tomorrow!

Would I buy it again? Actually, yes, I probably would. Though I really don't drink soda much anymore so it certainly would be a "novelty" of sorts.

What's the difference calorie wise?

Jakez 04-30-2009 05:17 PM

It's 100 calories per serving. 2.5 servings per bottle.
