1-3-5 Year Plan. Do You Have One?

With the current state of the economy, a lot of people I have talked to recently seem to be moving from the affiliate game to other sectors. Some are in pay sites, and also changing gears, and I can't forget some of the content providers moving to the webmaster game to maximize their content.

Do YOU have a 1-3-5 year plan, tentative, or on paper, you are working towards?

BlackCrayon 04-30-2009 08:33 PM

Always but its constantly changing is I'm not sure how much of a "plan" it really is.

Good HONEST answer. :thumbsup

With the way this business, adult and online in general, seem to be under constant revision.

Sly 04-30-2009 08:43 PM

The online adult industry and the online industry in general is changing and shaking so often... I think a traditional "five-year plan" would be really difficult to stick to. But I do think that you can make a fairly loose five-year plan, stick to it, and achieve those goals. You just need to be willing to change gears every now and then or try new things, drop old things, etc.

This business is not for the old folks that are set in stone... that is for sure. You need to jump when the rope hits your feet.

96ukssob 04-30-2009 08:48 PM

a plan yes, as it is ideas in my head. and those ideas i have been working on for about 6 months now and they are still "in my head."

sad, but doubtful i will ever get the time to get them off the ground

Agreed. My 5 years plan is more for off line assets.

My 1-3 year plan is more online based because it is so easy to make money. I had to break down and take Jim Gunn's advise to train my own people. I am in SW MI so there is not a lot of online people available for what I need. ARS is on the other side of town, but they are an exception.

I needed some online skill sets, and basically am now giving a few part timers crash courses with some of my other deals. They will eventually get to the point where they will be more of an asset. As they learn a new skill, I have them actually type out a step by step for what to do. That way I have it for the next person.

I am finding diversity is key, and the more services you can offer, the better off to keep money rolling in. For me, instead of just offering content. You can offer other services making it more of a value to the buyer.

The way my business is structured, I keep the margins high and costs low so it remains very profitable, but also very flexible for me to move to other things as the industry changes.

Having that flexibility is key.

I think diversity is good... but diversity AFTER you have a working system reaching its full potential. If you diversify too much before getting a core system off the ground and running smoothly, you'll just end up with five projects that are all half complete and none of them really doing jack.

Nicky 04-30-2009 08:56 PM

I don't give a fuck. I made more in this biz 8 years ago than I do now. Let me re phrase that. "I will work more soon" urgh......

polish_aristocrat 05-01-2009 02:07 AM

My plan is to get out from this.

Quite frankly, the money is still here, but I've already made some of it and i'd like to do something totally else in life at some point. Could start some offline mainstream biz, not sure where though.. and most importantly what :upsidedow

however, I'm checking out different options. Before that, I wouldn't mind to travel the world for a year or so..

PSSuperstars 05-01-2009 02:15 AM

NO SHIT. I just posted this to my girls yesterday... Get out of my brain!!!

To me, goals are soo, soo, soo very important. I set monthly money goals. Reasonable, but still pushing the limit just a bit. Without goals, I think some people tend to go on autopilot.. and autopilot is no fun.

1 Year Plan - To add another zero onto the end of my yearly sales this year ;) To start saving more. To start my first retirement. To start taking the porn slinging and mainstream slinging side of things more seriously. To not paint myself in a corner of phone sex... to explore all the other options....

3 Year Plan - To fun a half marathon. To have my company to 25 phone sex operators working for me.. and exploring the notion of my own webcam empire.. hehe.. To be well on my way to a house on the hill in Austin... To have opened an event planning and photography studio for my husband... to have opened a Curves or other type of female ran gym.

5 Year Plan - Possibly looking at adoption. And Lord only knows where business-wise.

I keep myself on a tight, tight, tight goal list... I'm very very very manic about goal setting.. The economy REALLY butt fucked me... but we're back on track...

But I LOVE LOVE LOVE goal setting :)

True.

You never know in regards to health, and family, among other things what cards you will be dealt. However, still nice to have loose control or plan over the future.
