The new Start Trek movie
 

If one has never seen any Star Trek movie or the serie, can one still watch that new movie or will one not understand what is going on?

i am a huge trekker...but i heard you dont have to know anything

they made it to make money...not just to appeal to a large but limited fan base

Apparently the non trek people are liking this movie alot as well... might as well check it out...

They love Obama in the movie. You should avoid it.

Saw it on IMAX last night, it was awesome. You do not have to know anything about Trek to watch and enjoy. For the Trekkies and Trekkers, the movie is an alternate timeline starting at Kirk's birth. ENJOY!

I am not a fan of Star Trek at all. I ended up seeing it last night and it wasn't really that bad. I enjoyed most of it. It was way better then, Wolverine.

Caught the midnight show last night - loved it!

It is a restart of the franchise, so everything you need to know is there, and really well done. But for the fan base, it is chock full of references and winks, and the characterization is dead-on in my opinion.

:2 cents: I haven't seen it yet but just from previews and whatnot, it seemed to be about the beginnings of Captain Kirk and the crew so you probably don't need to have watched the original series. I myself grew up on TNG and original series was way before my time, but I'll probably see it soon anyways because it does look very well done.

Well, if they continue on with this "restarting of the franchise", they better not leave out the BORG!

saw it 2 days ago, and loved it, way better then any of the other star trek movies!

I am also not a fan but will watch this because of the good publicity.

Darren Arronofsky's "reboot" of Robocop is coming in 2010...

Technically wouldnt that be way way way in the distance considering the time gap of Kirks starting career and TNG's encounter with the borg.

Remember the Borg can time travel :disgust

And Q can do whatever and... Is there a real need to rush to jump the shark with so much they can touch on in detail for the first time?

i want to see that BIG FIGHT in future, man from future told to captain in ENTERPRISE : NEW GENERATION and they showed few seconds of fight, was looking great, i want that shit!

I never watched a star trek episode in my life, and thought this movie was one of the best ive seen in a LONG while.

downloaded the TS.Xvid it was like Starship Troopers with a bigger budget

Just got back from watching it. I was highly entertained.

im not a star trek fan, but I enjoyed it. the only bad part was the trekkie down the row from me that laughed obnoxiously loud at every reference to the original series.

Best Star Trek movie every, by a mile (and I am a fan of the old stuff). Even if you are not a huge Star Trek fan, I think this movie would be a great see for all of the action!

I hate general sci fi.
And I'm so far from a trekkie.. it's not even funny.

But I ADORED the movie.
