Texas Mom Who Put Fetus in Fridge Gets 22 Years for Child Injury and Endangerment

LUBBOCK, Texas ? A mother of nine who was arrested after authorities found a dead fetus stored in the refrigerator of her filthy home is headed to prison for 10 years on that charge and 12 years on other child endangerment charges.

Gloria Ramirez, who is pregnant, was convicted on Thursday of child injury and endangerment. She looked down as the sentence was read Friday.

Ramirez received 10 years on the child injury conviction and two years for each of six endangerment charges. They'll be served concurrently. (??????)

Police came to the 28-year-old's home in 2007 after her common-law husband called a funeral home about a casket for a stillborn infant. The fetus had been placed in a baby wipe box in a refrigerator.

Authorities found rodents, roaches, dirty diapers, moldy food and trash covering most of the home's floors.

baddog 05-09-2009 11:16 AM

What does this have to do with the use of our tax dollars?

Socks 05-09-2009 11:19 AM

Even her roaches were on welfare!

You think well enough Baddog, so why ask stupid questions?

So you are suggesting we should not waste tax dollars by jailing her? There is no mention of her being on state aid.

uno 05-09-2009 12:07 PM

Sounds like someone had abstinence only education.

After Shock Media 05-09-2009 12:17 PM

I do not get how this conviction would be a political issue even, let alone really a waste of tax dollars. Seems like she is fucked up, broke some laws, and is probably better off with people monitoring her.

He's Canadian.

Check yourself for dents!

28 years old, 9 kids, pregnant again, not married, dead baby in fridge, child abuse charges, filthy home...

All of her kids are under state protection now for sure.

And you don't think you're somehow paying a bit more for her than your average 28 year old?

The article doesn't need to say it directly, yet it's written all over it.

Just saying, I don't agree with republicans on too much, but this kind of situation is a lot of what they talk about. This woman's life is a clusterfuck of the highest order, leading to a dead baby and tons of kids she wasn't capable of taking care of, and now isn't allowed to.

baddog 05-09-2009 12:50 PM

You're right. We should just execute the entire brood because they are just going to keep adding to the problem.

So how are the republicans right and democrats wrong in this situation? Typically the republicans are pro life so when she gets knocked up they would want her to keep the baby.

But that said, I still don't see the political issue here. It seems to me that this woman is mental.

I'm right about the words you just put in my mouth?

People shouldn't make headlines and attach my name to them, they could have just asked! :winkwink:

I am 100% for abortion, and it has nothing to do with a woman's rights to me. Babies need people to take care of them, without that they're useless!

I'm just saying that when I read that, I kind of understood for a moment where conservative minded people are coming from. They whine a lot about how their tax dollars are given away to people like this fine lady, and I can see their point here.

I wonder how many people go to work every day in your country to pay taxes that are canceled out by this one woman and her retarded fucked up existence. A model of efficiency.

I guess none of this happens in Canada, right?

I guess I misunderstood your topic then. I thought you meant that the republicans are correct about this woman. I don't see that. Republicans are anit-abortion and this is someone who clearly shouldn't be having kids. Maybe they are right about arguing about welfare reform, but they do nothing about it. They had 8 years with Bush and six of those eight years they held the house, senate and the white house yet they did nothing about welfare reform. The last big welfare reform came under Clinton.

So maybe it is the democrats who are actually right. She should have had abortions all along and none of these problems would be happening.

Bill8 05-09-2009 04:11 PM

I wonder what those way cool republicans would do to fix a situation like this one?

Seems like she had all those kids under republican rule.

Sounds like a sad situation. She had a stillbirth, tried to bury the corpse, and the government stepped in.

I guess texas is better off with her in prison, and all those kids split up in foster care. That'll teach her to have a stillbirth.

what I'm wondering is what in the fuck does this have to do with republicans being right? Lets see, she has 9 kids and more than likely on welfare. She sure didn't just get on welfare because the new gov. said "hey, we can give you free shit!" This has absolutely nothing to do with anything political. There are many people just like her. The only difference is that she got caught. So again, tell me how this has anything to do with republicans or even democrats for that matter?

You don't get it either Ricky? Seriously?

Tax dollars.. They fund welfare, social services, foster homes, prisons, parole system, etc etc etc.

Is this news? Do I need to draw a picture?

Diomed 05-09-2009 07:22 PM

When I see anything about REPUBLICANS having a point in relation to FOX NEWS I immediately black out.

Gotcha. Clearly, more whining is needed, because if people just whine enough, people like this woman will simply disappear.

Kind of like you and the whole US thing, eh?

For the record, US tax dollars were minimal if anything. This is a state issue.

I give up man, talking to you is like a dog chasing its tail. You've not even discussed the topic at hand at all, just deflected. This wasn't about me, isn't about me, and has nothing to do with where I live. She's from Texas, a US state. Talking about her and where it happened is only natural.

And I guess she gets her welfare in Texas Bucks and not US dollars. Thanks for the lesson there.

Missing the point.

Texas tax dollars. Not US tax dollars.

Redrob 05-09-2009 08:47 PM

Maybe she was a devout Christian who believed in the power of prayer to cure ills, didn't believe in abortion, and believed that if you "spare the rod, you spoil the child."

Sounds like a sound Republican voter.....
