I was just about to open a thread and ask:
Is it common for people to mow their lawn at 7am on Sunday? I mean, saturday and sunday, I have two neighbors that mow their lawns at 7am. I couldn't sleep through it if I wanted. Pisses me off to no end. |
I clicked the link expecting more but it seems you've posted the whole article.
He must have done more than mowed some grass. |

funny, 60 miles from there in Toledo, the mayor cuts grass on the weekends and asks the citizens to also because the city is broke
|
Looks like he was told more than once to stop mowing. He chose to ignore the cop.
|
I bet the city workers were worried they'd lose their jobs if citizens started cutting the grass for them hahahah. But the cops should have better things to do, wtf

Yet another situation where law is applied without due regard for intent [the very foundation of civil law] |
Good, he sounds like a fucking annoying idiot who needs some hobbies.
What's he going to do next start painting traffic lights pink because he wants them that color? Get a life loser! |
Clearly the city is lacking on maintaining their parks, why not just hire the guy to do it for them?

how the fuck is he being annoying? Dont you think the cops have better shit to do? Couldnt the other lawnmower guy be happy that he dosnt have to do it? your post here is fucking retarded... |
That is some weird news, this is the strangest reason why someone is arrest
|
lol its funny because the cops must have never though what if we just let this guy go ahead and finish cutting the grass? then there wouldn't be costs of them filling out reports, taking the negative press about it, court costs for any proceedings and all that. and they would have had cut grass. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh wtf? just let the guy finish cutting the grass and call it a day
|
I'm gonna take a wild guess that the city parks employees are unionized. Taking work away from them is about on par with murder in the union's eyes, even if they are incompetent at doing their own job.
|
GO COPS! woot woot
|
Taking away work from those lazy city workers,he should be shot lol

Hey simpleton... What about liability? Property damage? Personal injury? Accidents happen that's why companies get bonded and insured. Maybe this is too deep for you to understand. You would be the first one saying what an idiot the guy was for doing this if something went wrong in the process. People can't just go around doing what they want when they want. Use your fucking brain. |
I'll bet any money that the city employees are unionized and they do not want people cutting into their jobs. I understand their position, but honestly I don't think a job like cutting grass should be a unionized city job. It should be a contract job where people of all sorts can submit bids on the project, which would save a tremendous amount of money.
This guy should get an award for stepping up and doing what needs to be done instead of sitting idly by watching what needs to be done and saying "this should be handled." My hat is off to him. |

Property damage, wtf its a field and he's cutting grass how much damage could he do? |

I'm talking about injuries he might cause to other people around. A kid near here lost his hand last year because a neighbor didn't see the kid playing as he was mowing his lawn. A field sure, but we don't know anything about the field... Power lines, sprinklers etc etc. I am just taking the other side for arguments sake. This is an isolated incident but if these types of actions were widespread there would be all kinds of problems created by people just deciding to take things upon themselves. I am all for the protest. I think government workers are overpaid and underworked but it's not the cops fault for doing what they are supposed to do. |
Here's a good comment from a surfer on that site...
VeteranWarrior wrote on May 31, 2009 1:37 PM: "Anytime a government fails to meet the obligations for which it is responsible, it should encourage, honor and perhaps even compensate any citizen, willing to intervene and on their own initiative, accomplishing the obligation. Whether it be mowing, video taping a crime or preventing a major felony in any manner necessary, a government's obligations ARE NOT abrogated because of a lack of funds. The police involved in this incident should be reprimanded and assigned to much higher priority tasks, such as doing everything possible to prevent and prosecute crimes against law-abiding citizens." |

there is probably more to this story - i bet the dude is a local pain in the ass.

In this case...who are they serving and protecting? I applaud the guy's actions. Sometimes civil disobedience is the only way of affecting positive change. Wouldn't be the first time - certainly won't be the last. |
I thought only the Mexicans get arrested for shit like this!

Correct or not,the definition of 'law' should be changed to something more obvious.
Strange things happening all over and everyday, you question the law at every moment. |
I can see his point, but you can't always fight city hall and win. In his case, when the cops told him to stop, he should have stopped.

Fuck you all... the grass was a foot high...
you say property damage n shit... same could go for kids playing and getting hurt... due to the city not taking care of their parks.. the mother fucker was simply mowing the grass... Big fuckin deal... worth being arrested... NO! shove your simpleton comments up your ass |
Smoke Grass, Dont Mow It!
To Mow is To Murder! Trim Bush, Not Lawns! Bumper stickers, locked n loaded. |

Lets not split hairs here... I understand your guys' argument about property damage... sprinkler heads is what i immediately thought of... not cars nor kids ... still though... the guy was doing a good deed for all... I get maybe that he should stopped when asked... but seriously... put your prone to debating aside... If you were that cop... would you arrest the guy for mowing a park? only because another guy comes along and says hey, that guy is doing my job... If he was the town drunk or if he was spouting cop slurs while riding about on his mower, perhaps, but soleyl for moqing a lawn I do not see justification... |

Have you ever used a power mower? Have you ever had a rock go shooting out the chute? What happens if he does that and a rock puts out an eye? |

The analogy highlighted a situation where an individual took it upon themselves to alter public property without permission, very simply. |
must have been a job security issue for city workers
|
Next time he'll just cover the field in salt instead.
