Just an idea here but what I've been saying needs to be done is to set up a service for affiliate programs. Then have a system set up that allows affiliates to link to custom 2257 pages for the various programs/sites they are promoting.

Hi Crockett
Thats a good idea, but unless the program has a contract with each affiliate it would not be considered a legal third party record keeper. And would each affiliate really trust the program to keep the records properly ? 2257Safe can act as the third party record keeper for programs for the affiliates. |

Hey Michael, I would be willing to bet that some affiliates would be interested in a system like that. Especially those pushing hardcore programs. What kind of protection/guarantees would entering into a contract with an affiliate program give the affiliate, if any? |

Anyone who has a 2257 Compliance page with dozens of names, addresses and links back to the primary producer... thats not gonna fly under these regs. A system like 2257Safe.com would allow the sponsor to transfer all records to the affiliates without much work. Each item of content (pic or video) would have the corresponding IDs and docs attached to it. So as an affiliate is selecting promo materials the docs and IDs are being automatically transferred into his/her 2257Safe account. That way he/she can she that all records are there and they do not have to rely on the sponsor to keep the records accurately. If there is a video that doesnt have docs to go along with it, the affiliate can decide not to take the chance to promote that video. Missing docs and or IDs is something that is quite common in regards to keeping proper records. As an affiliate I dont know if I would blindly trust a program to have everything. :2 cents: |
The rates seem reasonable, but are there extra costs.
For example, if a small webmaster signs up for the 9.99 a month plan, is there an extra charge if an inspection occurs? Also, are model releases required and not just photo id? Thanks |
There are no extra fees. For the $9.99 plan, you would have to have a very small site. That level is meant for affiliates and photographers that mostly have photos. You can store up to 10gigs of content, video or pics. You just wont fit much in the way of videos.
2257 requires more than just IDs. Under the law you will need a 2257 Compliance Document signed by the model. |
