What's The Best Way To Check A Sponsor For Shaving?

I was thinking of opening up some checking accounts just to check sponsors for shaving.

Is there anything I should no about this? Will a sponsor see a sale coming from my city or state and automatically know to credit the sale? I want to be able to catch them in the act.

I think it would be cool to have the evidence of this and post it on the boards.

I think it's the other way around. If you get caught shaving a well known webmaster in this business you would probably be finished.

razorburn, check for razorburn.

If one day they have a beard and next day they don't, then you know for certain that they shaved. :2 cents:

You should just ask them.

Just be aware that some sponsors will consider this affiliate fraud, even if you tell them immediately and invite them to refund the transaction. Course you can't ask them in advance if it's permitted...... :D

You can always perform a test signup at ARS or HDpays.com

However if you dont let me know after its done so I can remove it from your payout, I will stab you through the internet.

You would be correct.

the only problem is that there is no way to prove the shaving occured

In the earliest days of this biz, I remember shaving being discussed a lot, lot more than it is these days. Back then, it seems affiliates were much more likely to accuse a sponsor of shaving... especially if they only thought or suspected the traffic they were sending should have been producing more sales.

I suppose CCBill and NATS have gone some distance in providing more trust so that shaving suspicions are not as likely to be raised. And also, the biz has matured, and with this maturation the notion may have evolved that most "everyone who is anyone", and who is in this business now is above that sort of tactic.

But, I don't know. There are far worse crimes committed that have little if any consequences. The rewards of a sophisticated shaving program might make it wothwhile. So, I think it would be a mistake if those of us who are affiliates were not vigilant about shaving possibilities. Seems to me that webcam programs could easily shave the most and most often... there aren't many of them that use CCBill or NATS. It's all based on the info that they choose to report.

Only trust sponsors who sport full beards...

a few years ago I got an email from someone to my site saying they signed up but cant cancel their membership. i kindly reponsded back to them and told them to email the program not me.

they responded back with a scan of their credit card bill showing they paid and they tried to email the company but no response. I looked at the date they signed up and then looked at the program. it was one i was barely pushing and maybe got a 2 sales a week. just so happens that that day, and the day before and after there was no sales. after talking with a rep, they said it was a system error and they fixed the problem... right

Is that an opinion or best guess, or something you know for sure? Why would it work that way?... because the big boy is too big and busy to be detailed-minded and notice?

Mickey_ 06-12-2009 11:46 AM

You are more than welcome to do a test signup w/ us at any time if you let us know afterwards

Either that or they're sending a ton of signups so shavers would less likely to be caught.

Lace 06-12-2009 12:58 PM

There are tons of ways to shave now-a-days, and even if you 'caught' them, it would be chalked up to an 'error in the system'

Yup, catching them is key and even if you do the "error in the system" excuse is always a somewhat reasonable explanation... kind of scary that you could be cheated out of your money, time and effort if there are "tons of ways to shave now-a-days". A sane person might pass up the adult biz for that reason.
