my $0.02c on using Condoms in porn [discussion]
 

I posted this in another thread but i'm going to post it here:

I don't see the big deal with the whole "we don't want condoms in porn" bullshit.

I've seen Vivid do it a lot. and even watched a lesbian DVD yesterday where they even used condoms on the strap-ons to protect against regular STDs.

It all makes perfect sense.

And if porn buyers don't respect the need to use protection to protect peoples lives then they are even bigger idiots that are probably having un-protected sex with hookers and sluts and will probably catch it themselves.

Porn should lead by example and start using protection for all scenes. it will also lead to viewers and youngsters who manage to watch porn into seeing that you should use protection and protect yourself.

Porn in these times I believe is a major cause for the spread of infections and teenage pregnancy. Obviously there are a lot of other factors. but by not using protection in porn production people out there are thinking:

"hey this girl has been in over 100 scenes fucking guys and she doesn't catch anything! why should I wear a condom"

Discuss.....

Maybe it's time someone made some that can't be seen by the naked (no pun intended) eye.

I don't mean that as a joke either, I mean it in all seriousness, surely it can be done or maybe HAS been done.... I am married for 25 years so I don't really know the market on them now. But using ones that can't be seen in videos and pics could be workable for the effect of fantasy but protect the people as well. :)

do customers actually complain about it though? Maybe some people from the review site sector would have a better perspective on this...

anyway, well said mobilefun1987. I agree completely, why can't the industry be a positive example for safe sexual practices? Turn it into a part of the show even...

and even if everyone made a pact to do it, someone would break it to take the easy money and cash in on the condom free niche

When they first introduced condoms back in the late 80s and early 90s as a standard they looked TERRIBLE. Ugly thick latex, etc. These days they can make them to where you almost don't notice them -- that's the kind I don't mind seeing. Even though I am tested I will still use a condom (except on the doll - she gets it fucking bareback!). Heh.

Actually yes they do. When I ran the surfer forum many years ago when the condoms first came into discussion, the surfers HATED it, and told me that it takes the rawness and fantasy right out of it. I did have a few that didn't mind so bad if they weren't those ugly thick ones that caught your eyes before anything else in the videos, but for the most part, the thick ugly ones were all that was used and the surfers hated them.

I had about 2800 members on that board at the time and they voiced their opinions very loudly about this.

This is why I said that they should use them, but somehow find a way to get their hands on some that do not show much at all and aren't so distracting to the eyes........ the distraction removed the fantasy and raw energy of the videos.

I think that's a ludicrous statement. People pay for porn to enjoy a fantasy. You really think people that prefer unprotected sex in porn videos are all idiots?

I'm sure this won't be a popular opinion, but people choose to do porn. If they're seriously worried about catching STDs, they should choose a different career path. I'm saying that with the utmost sympathy for this woman and anyone at risk.

For every producer that agrees to shoot only with condoms, there will be three more that will take advantage of the situation and advertise as such. There will never be a worldwide ban on unprotected sex in porn.

from porn surfer perspective I don't care if condoms are used or not.

The idea of protected sex and porn is nice. However porn is a business and unfortunately the consumer does not want to see condoms, so porn can never be the role model for safe sex. Even if you used a condom that the viewers would not noticed you are still giving them the perception that they can go have unprotected sex with multiple partners and not catch anything.

Thats not what I said. What I meant is, if people didn't respect the need to use protection when producing porn (if it ever changes) then they would be idiots for not respecting that change.

And obviously by trying to inforce it there would be problems with what would then become the "no condom niche"

I fully understand the fantasy of not-wearing a condom and how surfers may view it aswell.

Like you said, in the perspective of an adult model, he or she should understand the health risks associated.

Here's another example which doesn't directly transfer to porn but still remains within the same kind of lines.

Amsterdam:

all the girls in them windows of the red-light district use protection not only for intercourse but also oral sex. yet people will stay pay to have there fun with them.

Obviously that doesn't relate directly to porn because there is no contact versus contact. but still people go there to have sex.

This is of course the other problem:

People using a condom when fucking a hooker is just them being smart and shows they care about health risks to themselves.

People buying porn to satisfy their fantasy of banging some random hot chick they see in the heat of the moment wouldn't go along well with actors wearing condoms. Most people are selfish and don't care if the models are put at risk by having unprotected sex on a daily basis with multiple partners to satisfy a fantasy for viewers.

You could view it as an occupational hazard just like a boxer possibly getting punched in the head so hard that he dies. Or the fact that the average lifespan of a professional football player is 35 years because they destroy their bodies for money and the love of the sport.

If you choose to have unprotected sex with multiple people for money as your job, that's your business. Live with the risks. If you're too stupid to realize you're putting yourself at risk, then I guess we can chalk it up to survival of the fittest.

I'm not sure if my examples here are a completely applicable in this case but the way I see it is that Nascar fans generally like the danger of the sport, and the chance that a big crash or pile up can happen is a big part of the draw to these types of races. Yet the safety of these races just keep getting better and better, protecting these drivers and protecting against major incidents and they haven't lost any fan base because of that. Officials at Nascar don't cater to what people want to see at the expense of drivers lives yet people still want to watch. Boxing and MMA have a long way to go for making the sport safer but they still call the fights before people actually get knocked out these days--they still have an audience (boxing is hurting i know)

I know there are certain niches that can't have this... doing an internal scene or facials etc would pretty much nix all that but I think attempts can still be made for the majority of sites and it could make things safer at the end of the day.

I think it does apply, It's probably along the same lines as having models work without using protection.

As for boxing. Thats obviously suffered due to the MMA industry offering more "exciting" and "deadly" fighters to compete against eachover with very little rules.

Going back to racing. there are many factors there that make it more complicated compared to the adult industry.

You could say a race driver not wearing a helmet would be similar to not using a condom, but It wouldn't be because even when they are wearing all of the safety equipment available there is still a huge risk. where as if protection was used during porn production that would pretty much be the end of any danger associated.
