Of course in this case your team of "champions" are mostly Canadians, a few Europeans and the odd Russian.

But YAY PITTSBURGH! :D

Right, 8 out of 30. Hey, my comment was obviously a joke but if you really want to argue the point...

http://penguins.nhl.com/team/app?ser...rs&type=roster

Leaving the rest AS I SAID - Canada (15), the rest from Russia, Ukrain, CZE, SVK, EU.

And smack is right, they can definitely claim them.

kane 06-12-2009 08:58 PM

It was a great game. I am through the moon happy.

xxxdesign-net 06-12-2009 09:06 PM

Far-L 06-12-2009 11:20 PM

In the end, the grinders were the ones that won the day... and there in is a great lesson in life.:2 cents::winkwink:

MK Studio 06-13-2009 06:40 AM

bump for the burgh...that was awesome and to win game 7 away!!!:thumbsup

smack 06-13-2009 07:17 AM

*Note to Hossa* - Enjoy Detroit. :)

CDSmith 06-13-2009 07:34 AM

Pittsburgh becomes the first team in 57 years to win both the Superbowl AND the Stanley Cup in the same year.

TSN is saying it's 55 years, but they're idiots. It was in 1952 that Detroit Lions won the NFL championship game 17-7 over Cleveland, and the Red Wings swept the Habs in 4 straight to win the Lord Stanley.

This = some huge feat, and and extra icing on the cake for Pittsburghyonianites. :D

stickyfingerz 06-13-2009 07:35 AM

Us Pittsburgh boys got the fuckin corner on sports wins this last few years. lol :thumbsup

Far-L 06-13-2009 09:48 AM

I think PA has the highest per capita obesity rates in the country so having two great sport franchises only goes so far when it comes to bragging rights...

Id have to see a link to that to believe it. Not saying their aren't at people in PA its just that I can think of a lot of states with more fatties. lol

CDSmith 06-13-2009 10:03 AM

PA is about in the middle on the list of fattest states obesity-wise.

http://calorielab.com/news/2008/07/0...t-states-2008/

But 27% obesity isn't something for any state to be proud of either. In 2006 this website stated: "Not even a single U.S. state is near the national goal of reducing the obesity rate to 15% by 2010."

and apparently as of this year not much has changed, except that many states have gotten worse - http://health.usnews.com/articles/he...es-report.html

But PA isn't in the top 10 worst.

CDSmith 06-13-2009 10:10 AM

Here's some light reading on how Canada and the US stack up on obesity...

http://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/82-620-...8060-eng.htm#5

Get it? "Light" reading? See what mickey did there? I kill me.

flashfire 06-13-2009 11:03 AM
