IE8 is a bunch of buggy crap

they can't even get the Find: feature programmed correctly

LiveDose 06-27-2009 01:51 PM

I agree with you, I fell for their including it in an "automatic windows update" and installed it while half asleep

Just like IE3, IE4, IE5, IE6, AND IE7. Are you seeing a pattern yet?
Better browsers, in my order of preference:
Seamonkey (Firefox's dad, with more features)
Firefox
Opera

nomercy 06-27-2009 05:03 PM

Same here... I had IE6 installed so I could preview sites. I don't use IE at all, so I didn't care what version I had. Might as well have IE6 if you're designing sites.

Then they made it virtually mandatory this time in auto-update, so I installed it. It froze up as soon as I went to the first test site. Fucking twats. :321GFY

I like Seamonkey alot too, and it has a handy html editor built right in for quick stuff

I was with the IE6 crowd too, just that it never got opened.. I installed IE8 the other day, it has a nice browsing experience. But I ran into a few times when it wouldn't open ANY website, at all.. Just said connecting to IP at the bottom then timed out.. While all my other browsers were working fine.

Firefox for daily use, Chrome and Safari for extra testing, and IE8 now

IE6 we honestly just stopped developing for. Can't be bothered, there's so much shit it can't do nowadays. If our sites look crazy broken for people in IE6, maybe they'll get the message.

We may pay someone to make things IE6 capable in the future, but fuck spending valuable dev time on that shit.

lacuna 06-27-2009 07:32 PM

Why is the world would anyone even use IE?

because you have to if you want to access all sites, there are still alot of sites and content that chokes on firefox, some drm protected video, and others

Iron Fist 06-27-2009 08:54 PM

One site I play bingo on, craps out just trying to get through the registration in FireFox... in IE8... no problem, everything works perfectly, so clearly they coded the site specifically for IE.

I co-sign this thread. Fuck IE and all its versions. IE 6 renders my site badly. Good thing its market share is sinking to single digits soon :(

voa 06-28-2009 02:04 AM

I will never use that crap

Lifer 06-28-2009 02:09 AM

Sites look different depending on if you use ie6, 7 or 8... so you need to check

I used 6, but newer sites had an entirely different layout than if you see it in 7 or 8

8 is a piece of shit - remove the updates, remove the ie8, reboot and download / install ie7 - at least it is stable

WDG 06-28-2009 03:23 AM

IE7 was absolutely fine. 8 is terrible.

How can they mess things up so much when a previous incarnation was working just fine?

tiger 06-28-2009 03:47 AM

Hard to believe there are any tech people that would actually use IE.

d-null 06-28-2009 12:43 PM

I tried, things got worse and worse with IE8, weird things were happening with other internet connections when IE8 had been running.... reverted back to IE7 again and all is fine

how can Microsoft, with all their money and programming talent continue to screw important things up like this? (maybe it goes back to the old theory, one genius programmer working in his mom's basement can do a better job than 1000 hired university educated programmers working on one project)

notime 06-28-2009 01:42 PM

IE8 can't even read webmail from 3 different email providers
I've had it with IE and if MS fucks up more shit, I'm getting a Mac.

slavdogg 06-29-2009 02:22 AM

How do you set statsRemote to open shit in FF instead of ie8 ??

i cant take IE8 anymore...

wizzart 06-29-2009 03:08 AM

every IE is a bunch of buggy crap

Roby 06-29-2009 03:53 AM

i do not like IE8 too...

slavdogg 06-29-2009 04:10 AM

even with forced download ie8 is not a dominant IE browser.
i thought this was interesting

Internet Explorer
1. 7.0 60.32%
2. 6.0 21.48%
3. 8.0 17.99%

Overall
1. Internet Explore 70.70%
2. Firefox 19.58%
3. Safari 4.74%
4. Chrome 1.85%
5. Opera 1.15%

bbobby86 06-29-2009 07:42 AM

IE8 sucks...

Ace_luffy 06-29-2009 10:40 AM

microsoft sucks... so many version of windows but still no stable version had release...

Furious_Male 06-29-2009 10:46 AM

I dont have any major problems with IE8. I only installed it on my lap top. No crashes yet but it does seem slow at times.

perfectodollars-gabrio 06-30-2009 01:35 AM

am i the only one that do great with IE8? if you tweak it a bit with a few XP tricks for having more concurrent connections, it's faster compared to latest FF - given you have a fast computer and connection.

and opening a new window is so fast (after you opened the first).

this is on core2 quad core 2.5ghz overclocked to 3.3ghz w/XP spr3 4gb ram
