Go daddy ask$150 for backup restore

I just wanted to share this with you.

Go daddy (in my case, hosting provider) is asking $150 fee to take database from backup and they say it will take 7 up to m 10 business days for that.

What is even more important is that database is deleted by someone, and definitely not website webmaster and they don't know how it disappeared. It was database with products for shopping cart. ..be careful with them.

baddog 06-28-2009 07:50 AM

Why would you use them for hosting? They are a registrar. Using them for hosting only means you are trying to get out cheaply. Their rates are not set up to allow for restorations or any customer service.

Running a store on the cheapest hosting possible only shouts one thing: it isn't very important to you.

HorseShit 06-28-2009 08:11 AM

You're the idiot for using Godaddy for hosting, Godaddy should have even told you that.

They actually have a "Don't Host With Us!" banner on their frontpage...

Machete_ 06-28-2009 08:17 AM

use http://pdghosting.com
I have a nice virtual account with them, and its as stable as the dedicated box I have my mainstream sites on here in denmark

LiveDose 06-28-2009 09:28 AM

Move your stuff to a real host for sure....

www.nakedhosting.com has some very reasonable plans.

Net Money 06-28-2009 09:35 AM

You may as well save the 150.00 fee and go buy some food. This way you will have enough energy to look for a job monday since you obviously don't take your online biz very serious. When it comes to hosting if you go with the cheapest you deserve what you get.:2 cents:

Fat Panda 06-28-2009 11:26 AM

great comments by everyone! I love it!

tiger 06-28-2009 12:05 PM

Why anyone uses them for domains or hosting I will never know.

NEW adult accounts are no longer accepted. We still service existing one as long as they conform to our TOS and AUP, as you well know since your sites are up and purring ....

It is not a policy dictated by " moral " but by business reasons .

femdomdestiny 06-28-2009 02:44 PM

crazy

It is really crazy that people react like this to advice and info. Why calling me an idiot or anyone else?

Have you ever wondered what are you going to accomplish if you try to laugh or insult people without any clear reason or attack toward you , if that person only share info that can be helpful to someone?

good luck

You need a better host, even for a couple more bucks you get a lot more. We get more customers dissatisfied with Godaddy then any others by a long shot. Check out www.adult-website-hosting.com

yeah this board can be like a cruel domanatrix at times.

just take your money and move your shit over to phatservers.

Well whether or not these peeps like it or not, godaddy has thousands of adults sites that it hosts. I used to be with them and had no probs while I was there.

femdomdestiny 06-28-2009 03:02 PM

thanks

Thanks to normal and kind people....It is even not problem for adult site, but for friend's site with online shop for skateboard stuff.

I can see that there are many people with adult sites here, let's make this thread useful, and asks someone to explain us why do you think that hosting with them can make problems to business? I had problem with them once, and that was with their statistics software. I've deleted traffic facts and started using google analytics.

peedy 06-28-2009 06:10 PM

GoDaddy is fine for hosting but don't expect a lot of included support for the rock bottom prices they charge.

150.00 seems about right to restore a DB. If you were to hire a certified DBA (Database Administrator) they easily would charge 100.00 an hour.

You clearly have no sites that have any traffic at all. If you did you would be singing a different tune. And yes, I have hosted at GoDaddy a long long time ago, and I know how it works over there for hosting. I chalk it up to newbie experience. :2 cents:

You are wrong. There has never been anyone that has shown the GoDaddy screwed them. It has always been their own fault. GoDaddy is probably the best registrar out there, hands down. :2 cents:

Care to explain the circumstances of how you got screwed? I seem to recall reading you story before and it was self inflicted. For the record, who is your registrar of choice?

sandman! 06-28-2009 09:09 PM

i use fab and namecheap for domains when ICAN gave all registerfly domains to godaddy something i had no choice over godaddy fucked me by putting some of my domains into someone elses account and i was not able to get the domains back.

As far as im concerned godaddy fucked me and stole my domains.

MediaGuy 06-28-2009 09:11 PM

They charge for services. One of those not included, even in their hosting terms. is re-integration of back up... what's the big deal?
