Reported a break-in a week ago - no callback from cops
A week ago this past Saturday my wife's car got broken in to - and she had a bunch of loose change stolen.
We called local cops to file a report after we discovered it Sunday morning. The dispatcher took my name & number and said an officer would call back to take the report. A week later - nothing. Actually, I didn't really give a shit about filing an actual report since it was only about $20 bucks missing...but I did want to find out if there'd be any other reports in the neighbourhood that same night. Despite working alongside cops - sometimes they really fucking annoy me. My tax dollars hard at work. |
They prioritize calls and unfortunately, many don't get a followup. It depends on the overall volume of crime/calls.

I thought you had some hook ups with the police? Aren't you the guy that works as a part time parking cop?
|
Long ago it became obvious to me that the police are the LAST people I should call for something like that. They dont give a fuck in the first place, and wont do shit about it.
SilentKnight, my best advice to you is this: They hit your car once and got away with it, plus a few bucks. That means they'll be back (and thier either kids or crackheads...). Knowing that will make it easier for you to catch them yourself, no police involvement needed. |
You wasted the cops time because someone stole your wives change and you have the nerve to come and complain about it?
let me guess your the same type of guy to phone the cops when a kid throws a snowball at your car. get a life. |

But there's also an issue we have with a family member who's been known to steal from us lately. Which is why I wanted to know if our break-in was a singular event or if others in the neighbourhood had been hit the same night. |

That fucking sucks. You should call the station and ask them outright if they had any other such reports for that time period. I believe they would tell you. |

I have video footage of a truck hitting a light pole outside my house. Hard to tell for sure but it looks like he deliberately did it... swerved into its path, no brake lights, kept going as if nothing happened.
So this guy was either a lunatic, or on something. I dropped a DVD into the police station... was told someone would contact me to discuss it further... followed up with a call saying I think I've found the truck... and that's all that happened. No one ever called me back. I can understand that my first report would have had a relatively low priority since the DVD didn't show the number plate, but the followup call saying GUYS THE TRUCK IS HERE should have kicked them into gear. Pfft. |
u gotta love niagara regional police.
they are busy at the sundowner or private eyes |
he remembered the time you wrote him a parking ticket.

They're all too busy on the highways looking to lay "stunt driving" charges. I swear they must get a commission on those ones. Either that, or flying around in their new plane back and forth over the 401 looking to lay a few speeding charges while they burn through thousands of dollars of fuel.
They don't seem to be too good at much else these days. |

Private Eyes is another matter. :1orglaugh |
Do you live in a big city? I know a lot of that type of stuff gets sent to a central desk and that person assigns the work. It is possible that they dropped the ball.
If you live in a smaller town that kind of thing is less likely to happen. Either way it is fucked up, they should have called you back by now. |
