My science hero from college. The original mad scientist and inventor of the death ray.

He also invented radio. Marconi stole his work.

His work with ac electricity made the electric chair possible.

Anyone who helped invent the electric chair is not all that bad in my opinion.

googles the first thing I see when open a browser. I kinda figured it was Telsa.

Anyone else enjoy how google does that? I've always thought it was really cool.

Congrats on a fine inventor, a legend born before his time. On a recent visit to Zagreb i strolled down Nikola Tesla Avenue, it was very inspiring. The man died without a patent to his name even though he was the inventor of so many things we take for granted today.

Big Red Machine 07-10-2009 09:25 PM

He was also know as a ladies man...until he fried his own schween in an accident while doing an experiment.....Either way he was one bad ass man, and never given his full respect.

Yes I know that. Thomas Edison was a businessman and a world first video pirate (the sort of guys we are fighting against), but he wasn't an inventor. However, is was really him who suggested to use electricity to torture and kill people. Edison started his sadistic experiments on animals when he was trying to prove that an alternating current (AC) is much more dangerous than direct current (DC). So he used AC to publicly torture and kill animals in order to push his lovely DC. Only after that he thought that people also can be killed with electricity... That's how the electric chair was invented.

Thomas Edison is a distant cousin of mine.

The Edison family was among the original UEL settlers along the Cdn. north shore of Lake Erie before he (unwillingly) made his way/escape back down to the States.
