why is this the worst time of year for sales?
 

what are some real reasons why sales are slow this time of year? is it kids not in school? or vacations and such?

anyone have any hard data on this? saw the post below and it made my think

Ummm, people are actually out of the house 1000 times more in the summer.

Summer is not the best time for sales :)

Summer, 3rd quarter 2008, was amazing for me. Most I've made in a long time. Though a lot of sponsors had insane PPS promos around this time last year.

This year is much slower but I'm about even with last year. 3Q is starting out about even but I fear Aug and Sep will not match last years income. We will see..

However, to answer your question its because people are out and about. Family, travelling. They aren't stuck in the house like during Winter.

With my limited traffic, this month can be my best ever if sales continues like this. July have been nice to me.

Just one reason : With summer you can go to the beach or down the street and look at skimpy clad girls everywhere!

Because you aren't promoting Video Secrets, naturally. We are breaking old sales record left, right and center, so we must be doing something right. ;)

Right ... there's always a demand

Only thing i notice on localized sites ... e.g. i have some sites specialized on the german market ... when i see the weather report and it's going to be good weather the next day it's usually a slow day, but e.g. last 2 days the weather was terrible over here and i had great sales from these sites - but even on good weather days there's a lot of sales going in the evening/night, it's just slow from morning to afternoon/early evening. On week/month averages there's nothing like a "summer slowdown"

Summer slowdown is a myth. I can prove it with stats. Summer months doesn't reflect in clicks, in ratios or in $$

What causes worse ratios, and income - it's ressesion, tubes, and processors scrubing cards (declining working ones)

When they have been in the sun all day, looking at bikini and topless chicks. They wanna go home and jerkoff. Thats my opinion on it all.

I used to think the summer slow down was a myth. As the years went on I don't feel that way anymore. I have seen the same slow down in summer for the past 10 years.

Now its important to note that I target US/Canada traffic so I feel that makes a big difference. Those running more globally might not feel it as much.

Probably because webmasters slack off during the summer :)
