Just saw a shoot-out on my way home from work
 

So I'm walking up Market Street on my way home from work and just as I'm about to cross the street at Market and Larkin, I hear this "pop! pop! pop!" and see these two guys on the sidewalk pointing a gun and shooting at some other kid.

The woman next to me was carrying a baby and we both ran and hid behind the column of this building.

They kept shooting at the guy as he ran up Larkin and then they kind of stood in the middle of the street for a few seconds. This jackass who hid with us behind the column stuck his arm out and started taking pictures of the shooters while we were trying to hide. :mad:

Then I guess the two shooters heard the cops coming, so they turned and ran right past the area where I ducked for cover.

I just got to my apartment and my heart is still pumping out of my chest.

Why is he a jackass for taking pictures?

I'm guessing she was worried that he'd get the attention of the dudes with the guns.

For putting me, another woman and a child in danger by sticking himself out there trying to take identifying pics of two guys who just shot at someone.

Damn you live in Compton?

I can relate. I was in a huge multi-level bar in Winnipeg back in the early 90's when a gang-related shootout happened. Half a dozen people were injured by flying lead but I thought at first that it was just some idiot lighting off firecrackers. Everyone was ducking under tables and I just stood there, but because I did so I was able to see one of the shooters run through the bar and exit out a back door.

The next day I went to work at my old hospital job and the other shooter was in the O.R., with a police detail posted right outside.

Too bad the cell phone w/digital camera wasn't invented back then. I'd have had a field day.

I'm fine with him doing it, I just didn't want him doing it near me...lol.

There's a good chance that the "jackass" is the person whose actions made sure the guys who did it will get caught.

When I bounced at a club, some guy started shooting a .22 pistol on our patio towards the alley(??? there was a privacy fence between him and the alley, but I digress..) and I had to disarm him and await the cops. Cops came back and told us he tested positive for PCP.

He was seriously shooting at nothing but a wooden fence, ha.

thats taking chances that dont concern u.. Things like that get ppl killed, if unlucky & messing with the wrong criminals.

Making sure that people who gun down others in the middle of the street get caught should concern every citizen.

Frankly, I was worried that the 2 people who just got done SHOOTING. AT. SOMEONE. were going to see him taking pics, run up and put one in his forehead and accidentally shoot me, the other woman or her baby.

Was he a dark skinned male?

If I was in the area, I'd come over and hold you for the night and make you feel safe and secure :)

To be fair, he was dumb to do that unless he himself was armed or capable of defending himself and others against armed assailants.. which likely wasn't the case.

I use to own a video game store and I saw a guy pull a gun on another guy and shoot at him across the street. I mean right across the street.

In Baltimore, where I used to live, you NEVER cooperate with the police. Ever. You see nothing, ever. Witnesses are always dying off. Most orders are issued from jail, so having somebody locked up sure as hell doesn't protect you.

Baltimore is where the stop snitching video originated.

The thugs are so brazen that they'll issue their warning in open court. If they don't then their lawyers will.

By the sounds of it, the kid survived. The guy taking photos probably wouldn't have if he was discovered.
